I've been to the Todd red wrench site-excellent site, but I still have questions. Background info: it's a 2006 Sundowner 2h slant, 2' short-wall, with rear tack. I only have 1 horse. I plan to add a cowboy shower to the 1st stall with water tank in the little corner by the door. I will have that installed professionally. I live in Dallas area, so it's not usually too cold, but summers are hot. It has a brand new AC/heat strip & 1 electrical outlet-I plan to add another up in the nose. I did insulate the dressing room myself (and roof of horse compartment) per Todd's instructions. #1: Do I need to rip up carpet or...Can I lay laminate flooring over the carpet in the LQ? & do I still need to put the plastic "padding" down first? Or do I need to pull carpet, lay insulation, plywood, then plastic then laminate? It has a solid aluminum floor. Do I attach 1/4 round to trailer wall or the flooring?#2: On Todd's site, it looked like he did one layer of 1/2" insulation. I used the same stuff. The wall insulation in 1/2" thick, the channels are 1", so should I double the insulation before I panel or just add some sort of vapor barrier? Is that gap between insulation & panelling going to help insulate like dual pane windows? Or will it create a space for condensation to build up & leak and mold?#3: For the vertical gooseneck wall: it's carpeted, no insulation. If I put plywood,do I need pull carpet? How do I attach plywood? Plywood is going to be used to attach cabinets (which will also serve as seats & steps up into bed, similar to Todd's cabinets.#4: For the bed area, again, do I need to pull up carpet? Or can I just lay laminate w/ or w/o plastic? Or insulate, lay plywood & laminate?#5: For the edge of the wall, what do I use on the edge, so I don't get scraped up climbing in and out? I don't want to add carpet like Todd did. Is there a durable, rounded corner piece of wood trim that I can attach there? Thanks in advance! My tax return will be gone after this, but my little trailer will be awesome for my weekend shows! Sent from my iPhone

I insulated the neck and floor before laying my vinyl floor and carpet in the neck. I did 1/2" foam insulation (maybe it was 3/4"), it had foil on one side and vapor barrier on the other. Then a layer of OSB plywood. Then I laid my vinyl, and used the original metal trim that was on the original carpet (still there, I left it in) to trim it out. I didn't use the quarter round there, but you could. I'd attach it to the floor personally.

As far as putting in plywood, I built a frame on that vertical wall, similar to Todd's. Made one out of 1x3s so that I had something to attach my plywood to, and it held my pieces of insulation foam in place. I used brackets to hold that frame and plywood on the vertical wall to the plywood in the neck, and used 2 small brackets at the front of the neck plywood to keep it from sliding back. I also put storage benches against the vertical wall, and screwed them into the floor, which helps keep that vertical plywood and frame in place.

I have a 2013 2h slant gooseneck, Circle J. It's a work in progress. Doing some basic 12v wiring, going to add foam insulation to the ceiling (over the reflectix bubble insulation), panel the ceiling, and add cabinets to the nose and along the side walls in the neck. Move the saddle rack to the short wall, and add storage and organization to the wall that divides the horse compartment and dressing room (a grid wall, big racks to hold my pop up tent canopies and camp chairs, etc).

Very nice job! I love the cabinets! Do you use those to climb into gooseneck? I'll be traveling with a dog that's not quite big enough to jump up there & I want "steps" for both of us. She sheds a lot, so I want to avoid as much carpet & fabric as possible. I just wasn't sure if the carpet would add insulation or if it would be better to start from bare floor. Thanks for sharing the info & pictures. I need all the help I can get.

I am in process of putting in a weekender for a friend. Here is the link to the album and the progress to this point. I pulled out all the carpet. It had leaked at the nose and one window, and the carpet STANK! The owner wanted laminate on the floor, so I insulated, then plywood, then the laminate. In the nose, I insulated, then plywood, but haven't decided what is going to cover that yet.

No link, but thanks for info. I might do peel & stick vinyl for bed area if I have to plywood & insulate.

Wow Linda! That's a lot of work! Looks great! Glad you got the mold out before it got worse! I'm being lazy. I want to avoid taking out carpet & just put flooring over it. But I've got to insulate the floor, bed & GN wall.
