Need help. I switched feed this fall to one that has some oats in it. Now I have several sparrows pooping all over the hay and in the feeders. I need to get rid of these things before they make the horses sick. Shooting them is not an option. I got on youtube and they have a couple different traps . Anyone have good ideas? Sure would appreciate some help.

well, didn't get any help so I took care of it my way, Shot the horses , burned the barn and guess what, NO BIRDS. just kidding MERRY CHRISTMAS TO EVERYONE

LOL. I have a friend who gets a lot of pigeons in his barn. (it's a big barn, two combines, and three semi's plus) We use pellet guns to shoot the birds. They are not powerful enough to penetrate roof but are accurate enough to hit the birds.We pile up the dead pigeons outside and in a day they are gone, Coyotes sneek in at night and steal them.

I would like to know more about the strips of aluminum foil. How big/small of a piece, how long, how many, in center or the edge of the barn, etc. This sounds cheap if effective.

I cut strips about two inches wide across the width of the roll. Just tack or tape them up where ever looks good to you. If you can identify where the birds are roosting by the manure they leave behind, so much the better. Old cd's tied up with yarn or string are also good.

We had a BIG problem with swallows, among others, getting in our raised center aisle show barn. We mostly use this barn for overnight stays & layups. I bought a Bird Repellent box from a commercial Farm supply company. It plugs in to the barn power, and shrieks big bird war cries, randomly. It doesn't bother our personal horses, although they are rarely in there. When we have people come in, we just unplug it until they leave. The birds never come back in between. Best fathers day present for hubby , who used to have to climb up a tall ladder to wipe down the tops of the stalls. Money well spent!
