Looking to put an electric trailer jack on our horse trailer. Trailer is a 30 foot gooseneck with living quarters. Trailer weighs right around 10,000lbs.
Anyone have any suggestions on what kind of jack and what kind of pricing are we looking at? One place told us around $400 and other said $2,000. Big difference. Any help is appreciate.

Well I'd say the $400 was adding an electric motor to your current jack and $2000 was a complete new hydraulic jack setup. I've had both, I didn't like the electric motor add on. Easy to over heat and extremely slow. My current trailer has dual hydraulic jacks, my opinion, much better then the electric motor add on. The hydraulic ones aren't cheap but worth the money. If you keep a watch out I've seen them on Ebay a few times cheaper, but that didn't include installation so unless you're comfortable installing them yourself, that might not be a savings going that route.

I just checked, there's currently one on Ebay for $999 + $50 shipping but that's a single leg 7,500lbs capacity. Assuming the typical 7-12% tongue weight that will cover the 700-1200lbs of tongue weight. I recommend dual legs if you have space on the trailer frame for it. My previous trailer was a single leg jack, I had constant rocking motion in the trailer unless I setup stabilizer jacks. My trailer now has dual jacks, and it's rock steady once the jacks are down with no need for stabilizers.

You don't want to use an electric jack at that much weight. I would use a hydraulic jack. Please give me a call at 888-333-7103 I can help you with a Hydraulic Jack from Equalizer at a great price. Let me know if you are interested.Greg Factory Direct Equipmentwww.trailerpartstogo.com
