I have a new to me pickup (2006 Ford) and it will not power my trailer. The lights work and brakes work but not the 12V. I know that the trailer is working properly as I can hook it to another pickup and it works as expected. Any suggestions on how I go about diagnosing the problem?

On a 7 way plug, on the truck, with the notch out at the top, your constant 12v hot would be at the 5 o'clock position. Test it with a test light and see if it is hot. If not, run by the Ford place and see if they have enabled the charging wire under the hood.

skippy is correct, your key must be on. BUT, go to the bottom of the Home Page here and you'll see the corret wiring diagram. The hot/recharge line is at the 1 o'clock position on a 7 way plug.

We had a relay put on our Ford, the 12v is always on, now. And yes, look at the diagram on the home page for the 7 way wire, paying particular attention to the male vs female and the orientation of the notch.
