Does anybody know what the status of Cross Country Trail Ride at Eminence, MO is? Their website seems to have vanished.

They are still having rides. This is their down time, maybe they are working on the site?

Yes, I don't think they have any idea how much damage having the website down for a sustained period is doing to their business. The office manager is active on a facebook group called "CCTR", but that does NOT replace a website.Apparently, their former webhost went out of business, and whoever they replaced them with is "having to totally re-do it", but for heavens sake, it doesn't take weeks or months!

Big Creek Trail Rides at Hartshorn, about 25 miles to the NE of eminence,is a great campground that can't be beat.we ride there on their 3 day foxtrotter ride twice a year, but, during riding season, they have a week long ride every other week except for July and August.Family atmosphere, nice camp, good food, great folks that own it (The Howell family) and the same territory and terrain to ride in.it is not far from the Current River and Whispering Pines.Go to their website and check them out (theirs works.) We have never camped and ridden at CCTR.Been there, but, never have camped. We like Big Creek.

I was told by a friend in northern Arkansas that another good place to ride in the lower MO area is Flying R in West Plains. He said it is only about two years old and only has about 3-4 days of riding but they are adding trails on a regular basis. Also they will loan ( not rent ) you a trailer to travel to several other trailhead 2-10 miles away. We will be going there in the fall. Does anyone know anything about this place?

Ditto re: Big Creek Trail Ride. I've attended that ride several times over that past few years and loved it. Only reason for not going back is because I don't have anyone to ride "shotgun" with me for the long drive. I just get too dern tired while driving, especially after a week of riding. If I could just talk Hubby into going...........that'll never happen. lol

Maybe you have an old version cached on your computer? Still doesn't come up for me, either from my bookmark, or when I try Googling.

The website is still down.  So frustrating.  Big Creek is very nice and we sum it up as an older crowd that has outgrown CCTR.  Wonderful food and a beautiful campground in the valley.  Nothing beats the personal care the Howells give you and you know they appreciate your business, something I dont think CCTR cares about.  There are also 2 other campgrounds in the area we frequent one is Shawnee Creek Campground, it is very easy to get in and out of.  Some people are turned off by the stalls and at first we were but after spending time there they do actually work nice.  she is working on updating the stalls. We like that each site on the hill has 4 stalls to each site and you only pay for the stalls u use.  The sites on the hill u do have to cross the creek to get to.  If you have a rig over 14 foot short wall 3 horse I would recommend that you request that you must stay down on the creek that you cannot cross it. we have had trailers of the above mentioned size cross the creek just fine.  it takes a lot of rain over many days to get the creek up where you cant cross it safely with your rig.  This campground rides all the trails of CCTR and you are further out already where the wild horses are. We have yet not to see the wild horses while riding out of this campground when we have went to see them.

There is a small campground 11 sites that sits right off HWY 19 in town by the bank. It is called Riverside it is ran by the owners of the motel in town.  Each site has water, electic and sewer, yes all 3.  Your stalls are nice and you pay $15 or $18 depending on which barn you are in for however long you are there 2 nights or 30 nights. In October some friends come up and stay the whole month there for $18 a horse.  Very nice clean campground.  Trail is right out the backside of camp and you ride all the same trails as if you were coming out of cross country.

So if you want to ride this beautiful area of Missouri here are 3 nice options and these people truly value your business.

you are the only person i have heard of that can, because none of our riding group can and i have tried 4 different computers at four different places and none of them can get the page to display. last week you could find the pages for certain rides but the site as a whole will not pull up.

well, good luck getting them to pay any attention to your phone calls and emails.

We've given you excellent information on nearby places with the same type of riding,or better.I think I'd move on,unless you just have a real burning desire to go to CCTR for some reason.

Your information is right. The HOwells are now personal friends of ours.We have been at least once, every year, since spring of 2005.We have only missed attending in the spring twice now, both times because of an injured horse requiring daily care,or,we'd been there this time, too.

I know the folks that own the campground off of 19 in Eminence,we were going to stay there one July 4 and ride with friends who were camped down at CCTR,but,it was so hot we opted for a B&B instead. The people that own that are really nice folks.Isn't there another camp not far from Big Creek,Pine--I can't ever remember the name!! (one of those older crowds you were mentioning,LOL!) I think it may be water hookup only.
