so I bought a trailer that already has an A/C unit installed in the gooseneck area. Everything is wired. However, it didn't come with a cord. There is a receiving hookup under the gooseneck where you would plug a cord into it. However, I am having a hard time finding a cord for it.  I do know that it is a locking 3 prong and the cosing around it is L5-15 15A 125V. The brand name is Bryant.
I have been able to find a converter that will take it from that to a female standard plug in. But how am I supposed to plug it in for power if a male to male standard cord is neither safe, not available? Anyone else have this plug in? what do you use to get power from a standard outlet at a horse show or truck stop?

all you have to do is go to a hardware store and buy the ends that you need and a short piece of wiring   ( try to use 10 gauge wire for this)   hook them up and you will be good to go, the ends are not a matter of being unsafe, just a pain to make it all up.

That pic is of an outlet.  Someone cheaped out with the installation.  You are asking for a "Suicide plug... Male to Male.  If you plug a sucide cord into power, the exposed prongs are then live... and anybody touching them is dead.

I suggest you replace that outlet with an inlet... then you'll be safe and legal see here >>  http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0017SOZ8C/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B000NI38MG&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1STMT3TPANKR8GKM4XVG

Thanks for the input. I just stopped into the local camper/RV shop and asked them about it. They couldn't figure out either why it was wired that way with the outlet. They said I would have to have a bunch of different adapters and such to get it to the righ hookup. Suggested a rewire to a standard. So I bought the part and the hubby will be rewiring to to a different plug with a recessed male end. So I can actually plug a conventional extension cord into it and into a power source.

Why they ever installed the plug that is there..... I guess we will never know.

Maybe they had a generator installed and this was power out instead of power in? That is the only thing I could come up with....

Might have him run the wires thru the trailer to make sure they go where you think they do.

I will confirm that, that is a 20/30amp plug that most gens use on their hi amp 120 side.
