I some how disconnected the pin from my emergency brake system and would like to reset it. The pin goes in about half way, but I am unable to position it correctly. Does anyone know how to reset the pin for a trailer emergency brake system?

I think some have to line up right to go in, but they are often really hard to get back in the slot. Look close at it, and make sure it does not have a groove that has to line up. I ended up replacing the whole box and pin, when I broke my pin. It was not very expensive for the whole thing, and not that tough to change

If the pin has been out all this time, your emergency brake battery may be dead now.

If you hook up your trailer DO NOT CONNECT your electrical, and try moving the trailer. If it's "locked" then the battery is still good in the Emergency system.

So far as putting the pin back in, you'll probably need to take it apart. The pin may activate a spring which makes the connection to provide electricity to your trailer brakes.
