We added a marine battery to our trailer to run the lights without draining truck battery. It is set up so that it charges the battery when the truck is running like it should. However, we recently replaced the battery and when we hooked it all up the fuse blew. Everything else works fine, all lights on the trailer, brakes, etc., and the lights still run off the battery, but the truck can't charge the battery. Anyone have any thoughts on what is wrong here?

Wrong polarity on the new battery? Trailer B+ from the plug is grounded?

It is possible that all that is wrong is that the trailer battery's state of charge is too low, and that when the tow vehicle is running trying to charge the trailer battery, it is drawing more current than the circuit and fuse are designed to allow. I'd suggest fully charging the battery with an AC- based charger first, before replacing the fuse and trying again. What is the ampere rating of the charging fuse that blows?
