Hi I'm Genebob's wife and I'm wondering if any one here rides a High Plains Tucker saddle on a quarter horse?

Most average sized QH's would require a wide tree in a Tucker saddle for it to properly fit.We had medium trees in our TUcker saddles, matter of fact, and, they would not fit our well built MFT's with or without withers.I have a wide tree that won't even fit my no-withers MFT,so,I can't ride it on that particular horse.

Tucker trees run a tad more narrow than most other saddle trees.

I realize you did not ask opinions of the quality of Tucker saddles, but I just had to tell you that I had a Tucker Cheyene Gen II that was just a big ole mess. I ordered it new. It fit my horse for a while and then he started having raw spots on his back. I called Tucker, they said send it back. I did. Was told the tree was defective and they replaced it. I sold the blame thing as soon as I got it back. It never was comfortable for me and I was not gonna chance it hurting my horse again. I would not recommend getting the Gen II tree to anyone. I have heard personally from quite a few other folks having trouble with those trees. JMHO.

It's been our experience that Tucker saddles are cheaply made, expensive saddles.

I have an endurance that I can ride our other horses with,my MFT mare has to have a wider tree so she wears a Flex Tree Circle Y fine.(Tucker owns Circle Y but, different trees.)

Tucker is the most comfortable saddle that I have ever trail ridden, hands down.

I did not have a Gen II.The High Plains was their best seller.

I have two of the Trooper style Tucker saddles and LOVE them. I've had mine for about 12 years now and haven't had any problem at all. They do have a more narror tree but that what I need. They fit my mules great and they also work on my American Saddlebread mare. I'm not sure how much they cost now but the Troopers were $795 when I got mine and I wouldnt sell it for that now.

My husband ordered his Cimmiran Tucker saddle new 6 years ago.  It has a wide tree and fits his very fat paint horse well.  It is a little wide feeling for my 5'4" husband!  Last fall his horse was tied up to a lower than should have been hi line.  We didn't see the accident, just suspected what happened.  The saddle must have gotten caught on the rope and tore the cantle and pommel both loose.  There wasn't a scratch on the saddle any place.  We called Tucker and they told us to ship it to them for inspection.  I did, they had it for 6 weeks and shipped it back with a new tree, cantle and everything fixed at no charge.  There is not many if any other saddle company that would do that for their customer.

I didn't get that kind of service when I ordered my endurance Tucker from them about 3 years ago.Ordered first of July and by mid-Oct,they still didn't have it ready to ship.We were in the area where we ordered it from the dealer (no Tucker dealers in AR at that time) and,he had to call them to rush it up.When it was shipped,it didn't even have any of the conchos that I'd ordered, there was a huge scratch on one of the fenders, they sent it with the wrong stirrups, and,I've never been able to use the breast collar on my horse because the heart emblem wasn't fastened securely,it is at the dealer's saddle shop now.

In July 2009 we ordered a pair of wide tree Bayou Plantation Tucker saddles. These are not the Gen II trees. They were made and shipped withen 4 weeks and except for having to reorder the larger stirrups for my husband, everything was fine. We do distance competitive trail riding and my saddle has about 1200 competition miles and no telling how many for training and pleasure. My husbands probably has close to the same milage. We realy USE these saddles, and they have held up beautifully. Sure ours get scratched and dinged, none of that "stored covered in a smoke free/pet free enviorment" for ours. They stay in the tack room or they are traveling in the trailer and we ride in all weather including rain. We just clean and oil them regularly. The Plantation has a narrow twist so its really comfortable for us. They stay put on our two running bred Paint horses and no white spots, sore backs or rubs from the saddle. Have a friend that rides a big MFT in the endurance model Xtra wide tree. We have been well pleased and wished we had of bought them sooner. Also want to point out we do not use a very thick pad with them. I think some people try and pad up a saddle too much and distort the fit. I also think despite the tree width different models may fit horses differently.

I measured and drew up fittings for my horse before I sent in the order, and,it still didn't fit her when I got it.it will fit my other MFT's,but, not her.The Circle Y flex tree fits her well and stays in place, but, not the Tucker. But,the Tucker sure sits a lot better for me than the Circle Y!

You either got a fluke on the good service,or,I did and got bad service, but, that was too long for a saddle that they make and sell on a regular basis to be shipped and still have problems when I got it.I don't mind my saddle having scratches that I put there during my own use, but,I don't like shelling out $1600 for a new one with a huge scratch on it when it arrives.
