Hi there,
I bought a used 2007 Xpress Xplorer 3H slant with LQ, however it did not come with instructions for the appliances. We took it to a local trailer place and had them service the bearings and check everything to make sure it works. They found a short in the electrical system in the LQ and repaired everything. Next month I will be taking it on my first overnight trip (although I have used it on day trips every week). My questions are:

The water heater is 6 GAL. D.S.I. WATER HEATER....is that elec or propane? And how do I turn it on, light it, etc?

There is a battery in the gooseneck section, with an on/off switch.....how long would that provide power for lights, etc in the LQ? How does that battery get charged?

I do not own a generator, the trailer is a very small LQ (5 ft shortwall), what size generator will I need? I am on a very limited budget (have to replace the tires on the trailer), what is the least expensive decent quality generator that will suffice?

This is my absolute dream trailer, as I have only had stock trailers in the past, and I realize that these are probably dumb questions, but I've been lurking and y'all seem to be very helpful.
Thanks in advance!

Each appliance will have a data plate showing its model number and manufacturer. Access the web and using this information, pull up the history of your equippment. Most will have available, owners manuals or opperating procedures that you can down load. Even if you can't exactly match a specific model, often times they will opperate similarly.

Once you have run through the start procedures, you will find that they are usually quite simple to understand. If you know of others with RVs or trailer LQ owners, they too, may be able to quickly show you what you need to know. OJT ( on the job training) is much easier and faster to learn.

Plug the trailer into electric to recharge the battery.  I also only have 1 battery and while it does power the lights, I use it sparingly.  Do you have propane fridge and cooktop?  If so, the hot water heater is probably powered by propane as well (my 3 are). The propane has to be switched on and my hot water heater has a switch that says on/off - you push it to on, the red light comes on and within a short time you hear the propane running.  It heats the water very quickly, so you don't have to leave it on long.  If yours is electric, there should be a switch of some sort as well.

Please explain what appliances/etc you have in the trailer.  I have a very quiet, but pricey Honda 2000EUI that will run the microwave, lights, hair dryer, fans, heater, etc but not all at the same time.  It won't run the AC, as I would need a 3000 or get a 2nd 2000 generator and run them in parallel.  I can easily lift this generator, but the 3000 models weighs 150lbs, which I can't lift.   I have been very happy with the 2000 model and so far haven't bought the 2nd one.

I've been told there are smaller AC units - maybe Polar Bear brand that my generator would run, but that would entail switching them out which is not cheap.

There are many brands and sizes of generators and many threads on here about them.  The quieter, generally the more expensive.  I prefer a quiet one, so I'm not bothering my neighbors. The generator will also charge your battery as long as you have an inverter.
