Looking at getting rid of my 2006 Dodge Mega Cab 5.9 and trading it for a 2010 Dodge 3500. Is the new motor any good or should I just keep my 5.9. Only reason I'm scared of my 5.9 is I had a friend with exact same truck and he had to have all of his injectors replaced. Any info or expierence with the new 6.7 would be great.

I have an 06 Dodge 2500, 181,000 miles. I have had 4 injectors replaced, but nothing else. Service tech told me to run fuel injector cleaner in every tank and haven't had any problems since. Bought a new one ton this spring. Kept the dodge for use on the farm. The mileage is so bad on the new truck that I only use it to pull the LQ trailer. Still use the dodge on the farm and even running empty to Amarillo and beyond. Oh, by the way the new truck is a 2011 Ford

The new diesel trucks fall under the Tier 4 EPA rules. THEY DO not get the mileage that the pre 07 DODGE the PRE 06 GM or the pre 03 Ford trucks. Having said that the new trucks seem to do best if they are being used for heavy use. Those that are used as a car have had some issues.

I have the new 6.7 cummins. I have only good things to say. I get 15mpg on the highway hc unloaded and 13mpg around town. I have pulled 13K several times and got 12mpg. The exhaust brake is great. I have the auto and can't say enough. The truck is a pulling machine. You have to run these machines hard. So I work it and then clean it up for a night on the town. You will hear all sorts of opinions on this engine. Most problems seem to stem with programmers and deletes on the engine.

I have a 2010 Dodge 3500. It pulls great and has had no issues whatsoever. I traded in a 08 Ford F450 King Ranch that had horrible regen issues. This Dodge has been a joy compared to the Ford. I get 15-18mpg with no trailer and 12.5 with a 4H weekender.

I had a 2010 Dodge. Hated it!! Power was lousy,and I only got 8 miles to the gallon. It didn't matter what I was doing. Loaded or empty. Took it to the dealership 3 times, and after the 3rd time, they told me I would have to live with it, because they said there was nothing wrong with it. I said no I didn't have to live with it. Got rid of it. Took it in the shorts, but at least I am not driving a truck that I hate. So before all the Dodge lovers out there, bash me, I also know that this truck was probably the exception to the rule. If it were me I would keep the truck you have. Good Luck!

WHEN?...Towing or Empty? It's mileage improves as the engine gets broken in...Less than 10K...you are lucky to get 12mpg either way...At about 15K...you are looking at 18/19 empty unless you drive it like a corvette... ...towing mpg is based on your trailer

Have an 11 Dodge 3500 dually crew cab; was getting less than what I thought in mpg.....anyway one fuel injector was failing. Got it fixed and mpg is going back up. Have gotten 14 mpg pulling a 4 horse with 14' shortwall. I am happy with that. And I really love my new truck.

It is hard, to keep from driving a Duramax like a corvette. Just ask the cop who stopped me. When he saw what I was driving, he laughed and I got off with a warning because he said he had the same problem with his truck. Nice to find a cop with a sense of humor.

18-20 unloaded...yes on a Duramax, more if the wind is at your back;). Loaded, depending on the load and terrain, 14 for us. I can't complain about the mileage. Head gaskets, barametric sensor, oil pressure sensor, parking brake, blower module, many guage lights. 76,000 miles and I love this truck, when there is nothing wrong, I hesitate wanting to buy another one. But, they all have issues as I look into the "other" two trucks. They do not build them tough enough without major "quirks." Major quirks seem to arise after warranty, how convenient. $60,000 for a new Duramax, I don't think so, skippy!

My 04 3500 Dodge has been back to the dealers ONCE in 120,000 miles of HARD towing. The horn would beep by itself. That was fixed under warranty. I agree that the new trucks are WAY out of reach for the average person. NEVER thought that I would see 60,000 for a new PICKUP truck.. I do have to say that after taking a test drive in a new Ram, I was very impressed, beautiful driving and handling truck.. Plenty of power and the exhaust brake integrates very well with the 6 speed automatic transmission.
