Yes it is rude;  it should have said that the petition time was over and so no more comments/etcetera could be received.

no horse should ever be slaughtered for food or skins. horses are beautiful, smart, and loyal to humans. they are kind and trust us to we care for them as they have been good loyal friends, and in some cases like family to us. Please do not allow this to happen to them. It simply is wrong!!!The most important thing is that they should not be victims of such cruelty because they are intelligent. Please do not not allow this it happen to them.

Jill, do you not think cattle are not of the same animal being as horses? Do you want to close all cattle operations. You can get just as attached to a cow as you can to a horse. Horse's are mammals just like cattle, in fact the normal diet of a horse is much better for meat eating by humans than most cattle. It sure is a lot more humane to eat them, than it is to starve them death.

Besides all of that, it was the slaughter of horses that help keep the price of horses off the floor and provides for a worthwhile disposal of unusable stock. When horses were $1.00 lb as meat, a 1000 lb horse was worth $1000.00. Sure beats what a lot of them are going for now. In many places you can not give them away.

bbsmfg3 is correct, you can find free horses all over from folks who through no fault of their own, lost jobs/families are being split with kids going with Grandma, and couples living in the open. If the price to sell their stock was up, they could sell and not have to just give away or let run in the desert to just starve or become road kill.

I'll quit backing horse slaughter when I quit eating every other kind of meat! Slaughtering horses is no different than slaughtering any other type of animal. Take the emotion out of it and realize we can't save them all. Provide them with humane transport and humane slaughter just like any other meat animal!

I heard Missouri might get a horse processing plant, I hope so, we could use it and we're centrally located. The ban on horse slaughter was and is only about stopping the consumption of meat. It had nothing to do with the horse, only a stepping stone for an end agenda.

Whereas I have no objection to horse slaughter for meat production, I would not eat my own horses unless I was starving. Pioneers, calavry and Indians would eat their horses to survive, even though having very strong emotional attachments and realizing the lost benefit of their horses. If you have raised cattle, you know they are intelligent family oriented creatures, as are all animals we breed for slaughter. Horses have many different purposes and uses. For some a best friend and for others a product to resell, either as a using animal or as meat. The horse industry needs slaughter as an optional end point for some horses. We buried a 33 year old friend in his pasture a month ago, but we would have sent a 13 year old to slaughter. Choice of outcome and end point requires slaughter as an option.

Any horse that I've ever had to sell wasn't a product for the killers too.

An ugly two sided coin with a middle any which way you look at it. We horse owners need to listen to each other. We all have different views for different reasons.

All animal are raised for resell or possessing. It depends on which country you are in horses- cattle-cats-dogs-kangaroos you get the point
