I just bought a 1994 WW 2 horse bumper pull. I used it on the weekend to go to a show, loaded it felt heavy but I'm not use to pulling a trailer and I went really slow. But I don't even really know what my towing capacity is. I have a 2004 Dodge Dakota 8 cylinder 4X. It seemed to pull fine but I don't want to wreck my truck either. I have one large foundation style AQHA.Will I be ok, the VEH.WT is 1000 as listed on the ownership permit for the trailer.ThanksChantal

I think you will be OK. I might suggest a weight distributing style hitch for better control with your wheel base.
Slow n easy is good with any trailer truck combo.

What do you mean brake controller? The trailer has a seven prong plug which I pluggged into my 6 prong with an adapter. I have heard of controllers in the truck but I don't have that. But the brakes seem to work. I'm confused.Chantal

So you are pulling this trailer with no trailer brakes? Doing all the stopping with the truck brakes? That little Dodge just has enough brakes to stop itself. Do you see a box/controller mounted under the dash anywhere? I would not pull that trailer without having a trailer brake box/controller installed.... I would have a friend who is very experienced with towing come and look things over with you. Check for brake controller etc. If you do not have someone who you feel tows a LOT, go to a trailer service place, and have them check things out for you. The trailer may also need checked out that it is in good repair, floor checked, brakes, wheel bearings etc.

I'm not a total idiot! I'm not using the bumper as a hitch. I have a good tow package on the truck. I'm getting someone to install a dash mounted controller for brakes. This is my first trailer so I' still learning all the specifics. The floors and everything else are in excllent condition.Thnaks!
