I am being offerd a year 2000 starlite model 2000 3 horse that appers to be in good shape for 3k. All I have seen is pictures and I probably won't be able to personally inspect it as it's aways off.

Anyway, I was wondering some things about these trailers - are they any good? What kind of things should I ask about? Are these known to be pretty good, or no? I have seen similar trailers for sale for 10k more than this one and am really curious as to why this is so cheap.

thanks

Unless you know the owner well personally, I would be very suspicious of being scammed. The price should be a warning sign, unless you have gotten incredibly lucky to find an owner who just wants to get rid of a trailer or who has no idea what it is worth.

Where did you find this trailer for sale? I would be highly doubtful of the price and quality depending on where it's advertised- say Craig's List.

Welcome to HTW...!!

That trailer should be more like 13K.....  Scrap price would be at least 3K in aluminum alone.

 Here's a "sold" trailer.... http://www.horsetrailerworld.com/home/trailerdetail.asp?ID=338958

I have exchanged emails with the seller and it seems legit. His story is that he's moving to the UK and needs to sell the trailer asap. He sent several more pics and the trailer looks good. I don't want to believe that I'm sucker, but........

Anyway, I was wondering if there is some place I can get a Blue Book type value for trailers? One credit union told me once that they need to have an "actual appraisel"- whatever that means.

BTW - I found another one in another state for only $100 more. One is on horse clicks and the other is on horse trailer trader.

All your information screams SCAM and both ads may be from the same "seller". I'd run away from these ads!

This has "scam" written all over it!... besides, the brand name is Silver Star.  Starlite is a model produced by Silver Star.  Silver Star is a good trailer but the company is no longer in business.  You'll never get a legit trailer for that price.  Buyer beware!!!

WYCowboy.. That is a scam. I found the same ad on tacktrader.. I can't remember the state of origin, but it was either Ohio or iowa.. something like that.. What gave it away for me (other than the price) was that he offered to ship it free in the US. My advice would be to keep looking.

Today on my local Craiglist is a beautiful 3h Sundowner bumper pull for $4500, and then says please make offer - what are folks trying to pull with these scams?
