I recently purchased a new roof vent for my trailer, as the previous owner SCREWED the old roof vent down. My question: it looks like roof coating was used to seal over the rivets on top of the roof around the vent. What is the best way to remove this coating, other than just a putty knife? Is there some sort of solvent that would clean this up well? Now that is is cooler weather, I can get up on the roof without getting burned! The roof is aluminum. Also, I bought the putty tape for installing the new vent. Any tips I should know about for doing this job? Thanks!
