I want to get my husband an elec Jack for his bday. Was wondering what brands are considered a good brand and also how I would determine what size to get!

Welcome to HTW...!! What size trailer? Bumper pull or gooseneck? You want an electric gear reduction screw jack or a electric over hydraulic jack? I myself would buy nothing but an Equalizer or Bigfoot Hydraulic Jack for a gooseneck trailer.

Thanks so much for the responses!!
Its a 3 horse gooseneck Hart horsetrailer - 22ft. What's required for the hydraulic jack? This is likely a really stupid question...but mechanically how would it work..assuming it has a hydraulic motor??

There is a electric motor on the unit that runs a hydraulic pump. The pump sends oil to a ram that rases the trailer.. VERY effective unit. Here is a link http://equalizersystems.com/Horse_Hydraulic.asp. I have the AJ 70 on my trailer and LOVE it. Excellent product and a real time and heart saver..

The hydraulic units is obviously the nicest. But if you have a functioning manual jack now, the proper Equalizer motor for it will be a more cost effective way to get a power jack.
