Last night, we saw the documentary about Buck Branaman, "BUCK". I loved it!!! Everyone who loves horses and thinks they have a handle on it needs to see this movie. I am not "pro-violence", but there was a woman in this film that I would "call out" and kick the shit out of... she had 18 studs on her property! One was "put down" because she had rescued him and he was so violent that he went after people (and cars).... I read Buck Branaman's books ( Faraway Horses/ Horse Whisperer)... Admire his technique and feeling about equines.

REMINDER: WE ALL HAVE A RESPONSIBLILITY, WHETHER HUMAN, OR EQUINE, TO BREED RESPONSIBLY!

I agree that it was a good movie. It explains a lot about his background and why he treats horses (and people) the way he does. It was beautifully filmed too! I was sorry they spent so much time on the problem stud. It was sad. I felt more compassion for the owner than anger. I think her heart was in the right place, but boy, she needs to get friendly with gelding techniques!

Saw it last night and LOVED it. Buck is a funny, down to earth guy who had a rough go of it as a kid. He learned to move past the old bad stuff and create good. Not really Oprah meets horseman, just honest talk and good horse sense. Would like to see it again.

I saw it at a small family owned theather in Thomaston, GA. One of the local folks started an effort to have it brought here. The theater owner made arrangements and had several showings this past weekend. I know it was shown at a theather in the Atlanta area as well. If you google it and look on the website, it has the schedule as well as details of how to get it in your area.

Google "Buck" the film... it will take you to a site where you can find it, or request it in your area. By the way... Oprah has NO play in this... where did that come from?

I don't believe she was referring to Oprah herself but it sounds to her like her show.

It's a documentary and not a movie release, as such. As someone posted, I googled Buck's name and got the showing schedule for our area. I'm assuming it'll be released on PBS or such eventually, but that's just a hunch. I'd bought and read his book Faraway Horses years ago, but found the movie so much better.

I felt no compassion for the lady with the stud; to the contrary, I felt sorry for the hoarde of studs she kept. The lady had problems, but she inflicted her personal issues on "pets" she failed to take care of properly.

Overall, Buck is a movie for anyone to see. He overcame a very difficult childhood only to become a very intuitive adult who is making the world a better place for all.

Compared to Oprah? Well, okay. Better than Jerry Springer!

Just checked his web site again and they have it on DVD now. $22 or $23, somewhere around that price.

I saw it in Spokane, WA last summer and then again in the small town of Dayton. The Dayton showing was during Buck Brannaman's clinic there and Buck came up to the front after the movie to answer questions. The woman that owns the 18 stallions still has them all. She is not right emotionally. You can feel sorry for her but she's chosen to get herself in this predicament. I audited the clinic. He's a straight talker, does not mince words when he sees people not doing right by the horse. He is a master horseman and the clinician I admire most in this country.I got my own copy of the movie on DVD from Amazon during their pre-sale about 2 weeks ago.

Burton presented in step-down Buck Brannaman clinic and to answer questions after the film to the front. The woman has 18 stallions still have them all. She is not the right mood.

So glad to be a member of this forum and get so much great information. I'm a Costco member and was going to make a special trip to buy the DVD there as featured in their magazine. So now I'll save the gas $ and order it on Amazon or on Buck's site. I saw his documentary (as I posted above) in a theatre venue but want my own copy. He makes so many good points. No more to add about the lady with the herd of stallions......Buck made his point, and too bad someone got hurt and just hope that there aren't more causalties or fatalities as a result.
