Not a big deal but I recently added a shut off to my trailer so that I could turn the battery power off to the trailer when returing from a show.  We have an LQ and our trailer always seems to be base camp at the shows and it seemed like something always got left on and we had a dead battery.  I have a car stereo in the LQ which can connect to an ipod and it takes a few steps to enable that each time the stereo looses all power (ie battery disconected).  It's not a big deal to do each time but if it were simple I thought about adding a small 12v battery.....something like this; http://www.jr.com/energizer/pe/ENR_A23BP2/ to the battery lead on the stereo which would allow the stereo to keep those settings.  Any idea if this would work?  If so how long would the battery last?

Or you could just run a separate wire bypassing the cut off switch to the radio memory lead. That's what I just did last weekend to our trailer. I too got tired of the minor irritation of restoring all the settings to the radio. If you still want to go with a separate battery, check the current draw of the memory lead on the radio, probably well in to low milliamps, this will give you an idea of battery size needed and how long before you'd have to recharge.

We installed an automotive radio in a LQ a couple of years ago. We used an emergency brake battery to power the settings, recharged when 12V was applied through out the LQ from the converter.

I would try this .... Memory power only, likely even less than battery self discharge. Consider that cars are routinely parked for weeks without running their battery dead. Now, if you only use the trailer once a month, then a total power cut off is justified.
