Looking at a Stampede Sundowner bumper pull sl three horse for a day runner. It's a 2004. He is asking $8,500 OBO/make him an offer. It looks clean from the pictures but if it is something we want we would definately look at in person before buying. I'm not familiar with Sundowner so I was curious if this model had any major issues. I should've never sold my day runner.....I'm realizing how many rides we are missing because of not wanting to haul the LQ trailer worrying about parking in certain areas.

The Stampede is a stock or stock/combo model that has a steel frame with the roof, floor and outer skin being aluminum.  If the trailer is located in the midwest or northeast part of the country, I would either have him send you pictures of the underside of the trailer, or have someone you can trust to inspect it.  If the trailer was pulled in the winter months or wasn't taken care of; it could have frame issues from corrosion.

If this 2004 is located in MI, we may have looked at the same trailer last week.  If it's the same trailer, the frame was in rough shape...ask for pics of the underneath.

Was it in Niles? There were two in MI. I asked for pictures inside and out plus underneath for the one in Niles. I'm waiting but I also have an interest on an Exiss ss/20. The Sundowner is a 3 horse.

Don't know about the Sundowner, but have an Exiss SS 18' Gooseneck. It is a fairly light built trailer but we only haul broke horses in it on mostly hwys. so I thought it would work for that. In the 6 months we have owned it, we have had to replace the hinges on the the escape door and the center gate as the welds were junk. Knew that when we bought it and it was ~2k under dealer price as we got it at an auction (was new, never titled 2006). We had to put plexiglass track on it also as it had no way to enclose it in the winter time with plexiglass. It did not come with a spare/rim either and has China made tires. With the repairs/changes, we have another $800 or so it plus my labor so is still a good deal. If you drive a lot on rough roads or plan to haul more unmanagable stock in it, you might need to know a good aluminum welder.

IMO, it still has a place for light duty work and is working fine for us.

Looking at a 2002 Exiss SS/20 this week. The trailer looks clean and it has a clear title, deep sigh. The owner sent multiple pictures, answered a lot of my questions, and has been easy to deal with. If it is clean, I will be bringing it home.
