Hi, I was wondering if anyone would share with me alittle info.  I recently purchased the trailer shown in my avatar.  I have also purchased a Champion generator like the one I used to have that ran a 14' sw lq---this trailer is currently just a dressing room that i have installed an ac in, & some plugs to run an electric refrigerator plus a microwave.  I will not be having a conversion done til this fall.  The space is only a 5' straightwall at this point w/ a 5' midtack eventually making a larger LQ space.

I mounted the generator in a rack on top in my last trailer, and have plans to do so with this trailer as well.  What I am wondering is if any of you have mounted a rooftop marine type gas tank up there? I was told to mount the gas tank in my back door of my manger BUT I understand that a fuel pump will only give about 3' of good lift pumping straight up so that is nixing that idea.  Would a marine topdeck type tank work on top mounted by the generator? Dangers?? Would you have a direct line hooked to the generator or just pump it into the tank yourself after its original 5 gallons ran dry.  My experience with this generator has been that on a 4 gallon tank it has been running about 10-12 hrs depending on the load which has been Ac & lights, sometimes Tv.  I always turn the Ac off when running bigger items such as microwave or hairdryer (every trailer I've had you could not do that).   I can buy a 18 gallon marine tank new for $179.  And I have already purchased the generator---Champion wireless remote start 4000.  They are EXTREMELY quiet.  I never had any issues with the ones I've owned and they are very affordable at $500.

Any hints on how this all works?? Or how'd you do it...please feel free!

Thanks!!

Just curious if you ever figured out the remote tank set up. I have this same remote generator for my weekender.

Gard, I thought that too. I was wondering if he put in a fuel cell in the lower part of the trailer. I have a huge CAT Diesel gen on my LQ trailer.  It has a 20 gal tank in the manger and a fuel pump in the back tack that sends the fuel up to the generator. I was going to offer to get the pump info since it does a great job of pumping that diesel fuel up on top of an elevated rack on a 8' trailer.

I rarely use the portable gen for the weekender. If I need it, I just roll it down the ramp and place downwind from my windows. It has a remote start so it is simple enough for how little I use it.

I mounted an additional fuel pump under my trailer to pump fuel to the fuel pump already mounted with my Onan genset. So far it works great. I purchased a Holley fuel pump at Oreilly's. Now one pump pushes fuel to the one on the roof that was trying to suck it from the bottom of the trailer.
