I have two western saddles, one I bought used at a tack and horse sale and the other I bought new in "85"....Is there any way to tell if they are semi or full quarter horse bar saddles??? The one I bought new, I never paid attention to what it was (was young college kid and didn't know any better) and now I wish I would have paid closer attention to what it is....The used one is a Circle Y and has a serial number on it....Is there a way to look up the number to see what it is??? The other one I had repair work done on it about 5 years ago and the repair man said that the shop where I bought it from usually had Circle Y make saddles for them and then they would have their stamp put on it instead of the Circle Y stamp...

Not all saddle makers use the same sizes when labeling their bars. If you know the make of saddle measure the gullet width and you might be able to work back to get the bars. Often 6 1/4 is semi-quarter horse 6 1/2 is quarte horse etc. Just depends on who built the saddle.
