Anybody been to Come Again Horse Camp in Leavenworth, IN?  If so, would you "come again"?

I have not stayed there but did go check it out.  If you have a full LQ with your own shower, then you'll probably be just fine.  The 'solar heated cowboy shower' that he has set up can best be described as a bucket on a stick.  And there are port-a-potties.  Also the hill to get up to the camp is a killer!

We chose to go to O'Bannon Woods within the Harrison Crawford State Park.  It is practically across the road from Come Again.   They have two great horse camps.  One electric and one primitive.   Great riding, clean bath house, good level sites.

Come Again is working on a modern bath house.  Maybe it will be finished by next season.

Hey, thanks for the info.  Their website says Showerhouse was supposed to be put in this year.  Guess they didn't get it done.

ditto what Dwight said. OBannon Woods is excellent for horse camping and riding. If you look up Indiana DNR you can find all of the state park wrangler camps. Highly recommend OBannon Woods.

That photo was taken in the spring and they had started construction on the bath house at that time.  It may be finished by now.  We never went back to check because once we found O'Bannon, we fell in love!

O'Bannon also has a nice nature center to browse through on a rainy day, or if you want to take a day off from riding.  In the summer, there is a great pool.  The park supervisor is Ranger Bob.  He's a terrific guy who understands horse people.

We drove through Come Again back in Sept. just to see what kind of progress he had made on the bath house.  It appeared that he has halted construction completely.  The site was overgrown with weeds to the point we almost could not see it.

We day rode there two sundays ago, on a tune up ride for Big South Fork. The campground is under going major renovation, new office building?, fun stuff like a mine shaft, hangman platform with a horse thief, and new fake front western town. All adds personality. The forest service is re-working the trail system. Everything that I saw was all for the better, Made the trails go past more scenic routes and follow the terrain better. Good luck on the new venture. Your purchase may have timed well with what the forest service is doing with the trails.

Come Again Horse Camp is the only private owned horse camp having leased access to the Harrison-Crawford Forestry Horse Trails. This camp accesses the 30 miles of trails on the north side of the Blue River, opposite side of O'Bannon Woods, however crossing the Blue River gains access to the other 50 miles of trails on the south side. DNR bridle tags are required to use the trails for each horse/rider. This is a small camp of 20 electric sites and 10 primitive sites. Sites are graveled, well spaced, level, grassy, and partially shaded. Potable water is available within 20 yards of most sites. A large pavilion with picnic tables is open to campers use. Hitching posts are available or picket lines can be used as to not damage trees. Portapots are available, but no showers since most horse trailers have these amenities. Small and very large camping rigs can be accommodated in this camp, all making it up the Wyandotte Cave Road hill with no difficulty. See also the Facebook page, Come Again Horse Camp for current pictures, events. Other posts on this forum thread are misleading, so I encourage all to give this private camp a try and explore the north trails of this awesome Indiana State Park! With adequate support from campers, the accommodating owners can consider adding showers and dump stations that so many seem to desire!
