I love a nice trailer..when my kids see someone pulling a nice boat they say dad can we get a boat. I say would you rather have a cool horse trailer or a cool boat....cool horse trailer dad. I am thinking of adding a hay rack to my trailer not sure how much I will use it but I really think it makes a long trailer look nice...kind of crazy I know but I think people here may understand.

Not sure how old your kids are, (boys by chance) but wait until they see someone drive by pulling a fancy Muscle Car on a trailer. You just might have to fork over some bucks for one of those. I know they alway make me turn my head to look...ok stare.

I also love a nice trailer. My kids have not ridden for about 8 years and are in college, and can't figure out why we have upgraded trailers three times since then. I guess we are just enjoying some empty nest syndrome and getting away from them once in a while. I know what you are saying about the boat and the muscle cars. They want us to get something THEY can use. I just keep expaining that it's MY money that I earned, they need to go out and earn their own.
Kind of proud though, one already has a job offer for when he graduates next spring, and the other is in his 2nd year of custom harvesting and plans to work until Xmas so he does not have to borrow any money to continue school. By the way, they are paying their own way with very little help from me.

Genebob.
i know exactly where you are coming from. I have a daughter that put herself thru collage. it wasn't easy for her. But she learned some valuable lessons along the way. She doesn't smoke, go to the bars and she's not pregnant. she has asked for very little from me the past 4 years of school. So for her reward ...I bought her a Very nice (used) Sundowner trailer. I look at it this way. I could have spent more bailing her out of jail and keeping her out of trouble. Now she has a good job at a Vet Clinic and holding her own. I'm very proud of her. sounds like your kids are on a good path themselves.

Sinful- It must be our midwest values. My parents gave me opportunities to make my own choices. Granted, some of them were not always right, but I seem to have made it so far. I have tried to counsel our kids, but still give them choices also. They seem to have made the right choices when it really mattered. We are very, very proud of them.

A hay rack makes the perfect place to mount solar panels for silent electricity. Also makes a great viewing platform when you want to watch the wildlife or the rodeo arena.

We have a hayrack on our trailer (aka..retirement home) that we use all the time when going on long rides. We finally figured out how to pack the hay in trash bags, then cover with a water resistent tarp. It frees up lots of space in the stud stall. As for the cool looking boat..we've got a great one under a cover in the barn. We bought it for the kids..used it about 7 times. I sure wish someone would buy it!

blackcows, not only is the hay rack nice looking, they are very functional too. Lots of things can go up there. I roll out looking like a peddlers wagon! One of the great things with a hayrack is the ability to have a water tank up there. I'm currently getting a hayrack built for my "new to me" trailer . For that extra cool look, I'm having the sides wrapped with white sheet aluminum.
