Here in Utah with irrigate pasture, You need 2 acres.
Coeur D' Alene is much father north. But 2900 foot elevation vs our 4500. So the days will be longer in the summer and shorter in the winter. The lower elevation should help with warming up the ground earlier in the spring and staying frost free a little longer in the fall.

I live in Southern Idaho. My friend keeps a horse on 1/2 acre that is irrigated, mowed, and fertilized. His horse is fat, fat, fat. He only buys about 20 bales of hay for the winter. Below is shown a phone number for Vintage Morgans which I got off the net. You might want to call them
