Don't know how well those work. But for double the price you can buy a basic GPS unit, that not only tells you mileage, but mph, Long & Lat coordinates, and imports into your computer and helps you find your way home.

I have used one and have found them pretty accurate. Just make sure you set your horse stride in the meter correctly. Also, put an extra piece of leather to attach it as I almost lost mine before I started tying it on with an extra string.

I bought one years ago on Ebay, what a big piece of horse do-do!!!!! It's very touchy and not really accurate. If it's not set just so to work, it won't work, and then that's hard to do.

Just as one poster stated, just buy a GPS, it just won't do what the horse o meter does, but much more and you can make your maps, keep your tracks, set up way points, etc.

HAHA you know what a pedometer is ? I think thats right. The things that measure the distance you walk. Well a Horse O Meter is based on measuring distance by the stride of the horse. I had 2 of them. Got the first one a tad wet. They dont do water well. At $50 a pop when the second one bit the dust I bought a Garmin Foretrex and never looked back. Horse O Meters are a HUGE waste of money. THey are NOT accurate. Buy a GPS. Its does alot more anyhow. The new ones are very accurate.
