I use to live near Hard Labor and used it a lot.For several years I did not know to pay.I parked, unloaded and rode.I think ALL of these state parks have gotton real exspensive. Two friends of mine rode Watson Mill couple weeks ago and it cost them $21.00 for two people, two horses and parking.

hey Hounddog....Thanks for your response. Hard Labor Creek Park now charges $25 for site, then $21 per horse per night. Just seemed a little much to me as most of the private camps we go to do not charge that much. I was just wondering if GA is trying to discourage horses......or just us out of state horses.........

We have entered a NEW ERA of cheapness and gouging.I feel and see it in many areas that we have have to deal with daily.

Not only have all of the State park horse camping fees gone up, the blame annual parking pass for State parks has risen from $30/year to $50.  Day riding fees have increased as well. It seems to me that they are going to price themselves right out of any body acutally using the facilities!

Maybe that's the point.  If its too expensive for your average person to use the facilities, then they can say "nobody uses this facility, let's close it down".

I had heard that many of the NY State parks were closing due to lack of maintenance funds, but there the federal gov't was stepping in and not allowing the closures.  Anyone else hear of this?

The years I did a lot of trail riding most of the places were by word of mouth.I use to know dozens of areas that all you did was park and ride into.Seems like only a few were State Parks and such.I know it use to be a time if you asked State of Georgia info where horse and rider were allowed  they only mentioned 3 or 4.
