Have a Equalizer jack on my 2006 Sundowner 4H gooseneck. It will not lower...only raise up no matter which way you push the switch. Batteries are charged at full level...so no problem there. I'm thinking the directional valve is stuck? Problem started after I had to manually raise it one time because of dead batteries. I followed the owner's manual and pulled out the little red knob to then lower it manually. Unfortunately, the red knob broke loose came off the wire, but I was able to lower it by just pulling out on the wire, which is what the red knob does anyway. Now, in order to get it to lower using the hydraulics, I have to have someone pull out on that same wire the red knob was hooked to. The wire retracts just fine (just like it did with the red know on it) when released. So I'm thinking the directional valve is stuck or something. Any ideas what it might be? Are the directional valves hard to replace? Is it something you can do yourself or do you have to take it to a dealer? Thanks anyone for any help! Would love to fix it myself instead of paying a dealer to do it.

In the future. A set of extra long jumper cables, spare battery, a portable charger or a friends truck will do instead of hand pumping an electric or hydraulic jack.

I keep one of these in the truck tool box, just in case. Easy way to top off these 100 psi wheelchair tires also.

Well,I never did see a real answer to your question and now I'm on here because we're having the very same problem with ours.Equalizer jack, will lower but will not raise. We had a problem with it from the start. It has set up for 6 months but the batteries have been charging that time. So,anyone out there know the answer to our problem? Hope you got yours fixed by this time but we're getting ready to head out with it nextweek.

My problem acutally ended up being a battery power problem. Once I hooked both batteries back up (with the correct polarity) it worked just fine. So, I would check to make sure you've got enough battery power...in the manual it says that it will only go in one direction if there is not enough battery power. I thought one battery was enough...but it didn't work until I hooked both my batteries up. As soon as I hooked both up...good to go and no problems since. Good luck and keep us posted on what you find out.

It finally was corrected. He mentioned something about the switch, but,I think it was the battery connections because he changed them out on the terminal ends and it worked afterwards.

I sold an 2005 Sundowner yesterday, and the jack worked fine while the trailer was plugged in; but when it was on strictly 12V; it would only raise.  I put a tester on the batteries, and they both showed "weak".  The monitor in your LQ, can show fully charged, but that doesn't mean they're good batteries.  I replaced them with new batteries, and the jack worked immediately.  It usually is always batteries, when it comes to hydraulic jacks.
