The auto and the 410. I thought I heard that the autos were paired with a higher ratio-373,355? That the 410 put to much torque?
I know a manual can have a 410.
Would a 373 be better than a 410 for an automatic? I am aware of the mileage decrease with the 410, and I am worried about the truck holding up. Thanks!

Your backwards. The lower 4.10 gears are better for the auto. The higher 3.73 and above are not. The reason I say this is because the biggest problem is getting enough pressure to the clutch packs. The higher the RPM the better. If you have an upgraded aftermarket type tranny, this dosen't really apply due to the raised pressures done with a valve body modification.

I have driven w/both the 373 and 410. Both gas and definently like the 410 much better, especially when driving in the snow. I find the 410 has much more power/strength than the 373. I am sure the mileage is better w/the 373, but being able to get thru the snow/mud, etc is good for me. One thing I was also wondering and was going to post here soon was: what/is there a diff b/t a gas 410 and diesel 373? Thinking the 410 is the torque fm the axle and the 373 diesel is torque fm the engine. I do like the 410, unless I can see a savings/advantage of the 373, I would stick w/that w/any trk I get in the future.
