We are in eastern Virginia and with the housing slowdown it is getting difficult to find shavings or sawdust in bulk for bedding. We are considering wood pellets. Can you offer any advice? Thanks.

I would be hesitant in using stove wood pellets as the wood species could contain walnut. They also do not break down as easy. I have switched to using stall pellets and I am pleased with the fluff and ease of picking through the stall.

Ponytammy is correct; the pellets made for stoves do not break down worth a darn and the cost is pretty much the same in my area. LOVE the wood stall pellets.
