i am possibly looking to hire a company to haul a horse for a 16 hour trip.  (there is the possibility i will do it myself, also.)

i had a horse hauled in the past and hired the people after doing some research and reading recommendations, etc.  but when these people drove up to delivery spot, turns out they had let the horse ride with its head hanging out the window!  (and all the other windows shut, even tho it was june in texas.)

so if i do decide to use a transport company, i am looking into a couple that use the large, 18 wheeler vans, where the horses are actually in stalls.

anyone out there ever used one of these transporters?  any recommendations regarding a company they have used, or a company they would NOT use?

If you use a commercial transport ask how many stop they are doing before they get to you so you know how long your horse will be on the trailer and how many other horse he/she will be exposed  to

I used a company out of Iowa called Zeigler Horse and Livestock Transport. They brought me my horse from Oregon to me here in Iowa. When my horse got here he was very happy and healthy. The driver was very nice and they called me when they picked up my horse and 2 or 3 times on the way here. They are very good. They do not have a van but they have 4 by 8 stall trailers they use. My horse came in a slant 3 horse comfortably. This is the web site for them www.zeiglerlivestocktransport.com. They go all over the US.
