Wife has changed her mind. We are now looking for a 2 horse bp trailer with tack and dressing room. The purchase of the trailer will require the purchase of a truck. My 2003 Ranger will not be up to the task. I'm assuming the GVW of a triler of that size will be around 6,000 lbs. Does that seem like a safe guess? I know we will be looking for a new/used truck in April/May. Trailer might have to wait a while, but I want to make sure the new truck will be able to tow whatever trailer we buy.

Most 2H aluminum BP trailers, depending on the size of the dressing room, will be under 3K. Add two horses and gear, and your total weight will be pretty close @ your estimated 6K. As another thread included, the minimum axle capacities are 3500# each, so you would have a reserve capacity of almost 1K.
