Someone fill me in on them - I saw a great deal at the AQHA World Show - they look to be very well made - just makes me nervous buying one because I have never heard of them - are they new in the market?

Merhow has been around for over 50 years now. They are a small company and build a quality trailer with many standard features. A good bang for the dollar. They have a very informative and useful site www.merhow.com.

Hey BuyShadow lady,

Do you ever offer any insightful information or answer any questions....or just pump up your own products?  Your posts kind of remind me of a standard mail out, the ones I normally trash without taking a second look.  I think everyone would take you more seriously if you contributed information.  Just my 2 cents....

To answer the original poster:
I recently viewed a Merhow at the NATDA show in Louisville.  The trailer I saw was a composite trailer, steel frame, aluminum skin with aluminum rear corner posts.  It was difficult to see exactly how the aluminum rear frame attached to the steel chassis.  To the untrained eye, it looked like an all aluminum trailer.   Overall finish was good.  I think Merhow offers both composite and all aluminum.  The one I viewed had a mill finish single piece roof which can become extremely hot in the sun.

What I see is three dealers have responded to this post, and only one of them just answered the question and didn't try to bash the product. Wonder what brand he sells? At least he was classy enough to only reply in PM if he tried to sell something. JMHO

Apparently, even when the forum rules have been explained, some people are determined to constantly violate them, by using this forum as a selling venue.

Perhaps these offenders will realize they are not enamoring their businesses, with their constant selling intrusions. We have several dealers who are welcomed contributors, and who offer valuable insight into our equine related needs. They don't badger us with unsolicited sales attempts, instead they contact each interested person with a PM.

It's all about good manners

I have an 05 Merhow Equilite (steel frame, everything else aluminum) 3 horse with an 8' shortwall and slide; I think it is an excellent trailer; I can pull it fully loaded with my 06 Dodge 2500 reg cab long bed with no problem. It is tall enough to give the horses plenty of head room; doors are all keyed to one key; doors have full length cam style closers....I really like this trailer.

Thank you to the folks that actually answered the questions I was asking - and NO, I'm not interested in ANY sales ploys - if I was interested in another brand, I would have asked about THAT particular brand. I don't respond to HARD SALES well.

I have an 06 Equilite, 3horse 8' showtime LQ w/6' slide. Well built, easy to pull, safe and comfy for the horses. No complaints and excellent value for the money. PS, it's not hot despite the one piece roof, unlike an overlapped multi piece steel roof with caulk beads that flake paint and deteriorate after only a year and prone to leak

I have a Merhow 2009, 2 horse, with 5ft short wall lq. It's the Equarstar model which has the steel frame, alum body, and wood floors. The horse area is insulated and this summer was the best for keeping the horses cool. I previously owned a Merhow 1987 Model and when I sold it to get my new one it was in such great shape i got 2,500. for it. These trailers will last you a long time with good up keep. I visited the Mfg when I ordered mine and they gave me a tour and explained the build process. I highly recommend these trailers.

I am not sure how calling a trailer "good" can be considered "bashing".  Don't read was wasn't there.

As far as the mill finish roof, this past summer we tested the temp of a mill finish panel using an infrared thermometer gun, result was 180+ degrees, for reference, water boils at 212 degrees.  Good luck touching a roof that hot.  Same panel in white was substantially cooler.

Here is a good article on metal temps during the summer.
