Hello, I'm new to the forum and am looking at buying a 1991 Sundowner 4 Horse trailer. It is a steel trailer, and has quite a bit of rust. I am getting it for $600 though. Is it worth it and how hard will it be to fix it up? The floor has already been redone. I'll try to attach pictures. We also have a 2007 Dodge Cummins Diesel 3500 dually to pull it, so I don't think the weight of it will be a factor. I have been told the ramp could be taken off to lighten it some. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks. Sam

Depending on the model and year, SD had significant problems with frame rusting issues. This was not a case of surface rust, but enough frame degration to cause loss of integrity.
If the frame is badly rusted, you may want to avoid the purchase.

Man what will you be pulling that with? In the first photo, that thing looks as long as a Greyhound bus.If there is no frame rust, that's a good deal, and that's one hunk of a trailer!!!

If the rust is not thru the frame, buy it, would be well worth fixing up! In my opinion. You have plenty of truck to haul it with. The ramp is only going to save a few hundred pounds at the most, so usless it is rusted I would leave it. A few hundred pounds on a larger trailer is not that noticeable like it woud be on a small trailer.
