I caught a post on Horse Talk that Kristofer from WERM in Oklahoma was going to be at Featherlite in Cresco, IA on Sept. 24 & 25. Gave him a call and I'm getting mine done on Thursday. I'm only 50 miles from Cresco so I can run down, drop the trailer and come back for it Friday. Wife and I are so excited, we don't have to worry about the floor anymore and the best part, NO MORE MATS TO PULL.
He can still take a couple more trailers so give Kristofer a call at 800-350-7564.

I bought my LQ this year with WERM and it will make the winter clean up SO much easier. Congrats on finding a way to get it done up here in the north. When I was looking at trailers it appeared that if the trailer was not equiped that way it was not going to get done in MN.Happy Trails,Sue

No, I ordered it from the factory without mats on the floor knowing that it was getting werm. You could put mats over the werm but then you would still need to pull them out and clean under them once in a while (not to protect the floor but to get the nasty stuff out of there). The added cushion of mats on top would be nice I guess but I wouldnt do it myself, the werm floor looks very neat and clean, it provides good traction and its simple.

I met a lady at a trailhead last year who had WERM in her 4-star.. She put mats on top of the WERM.. said her horse developed a pawing problem while hauling on the WERM alone.. Her horse quit when the mats were put back on top..

Thats interesting... The werm may not be quite as soft as regular rubber mats, maybe the horse didnt like the feel. On long trips (to Alaska) I'm going to put down some wood shavings.

I am always curious about the protection of the WERM floor. I have a sundowner with the cheap spray on liner over the floor. It looked fine until I pealed it off,(the cheap liner, not WERM) to find urine and such had been trapped underneath. It corroded my aluminum floor. I know the cheap sundowner liner is no comparison to the WERM floor. I just wonder, if you had a crack along the outside edges, or in the floor, how do you know that the urine and such isn't trapped under the coating? I'm not saying it is, I'm just saying how would you know if it was? I like to be able to see under my mats and look at the floor. Nothing would corrode faster than the urine trapped underneath. I took others advise on this site. I put a thin coating specifically designed to stick to aluminum, and then my mats over the top. I can see the floor through the thin coating, and don't have to pull the mats all the time. Just a thought.

Jaas, If the WERM is installed correctly, it will actually bond to the floor. When installing WERM, the aluminum floor is actually painted with a catalyzing ordance wash primer (sp?) whose job is to etch the floor and give a uniform surface. Once the primer is dry, the WERM adheres to it very well. Obviously with any type of painting or concrete work (and WERM resembles both at various stages of the process) surfact prep and care are paramount. We have seen many times the problem you saw with your spray on bedliner. Typically, bedliner sales folks will not promise adhesion to aluminum. It is much like a trash can liner and catches anything before it can get to the floor. But once there's a scratch or tear, urine is trapped underneath making a mess for no one to see. Really- the only comparison to WERM and the bedliner type of product is that they are both black and are on the floor.

The WERM floor does sound like a good product. You would get double the protection then. The primer coat to seal the aluminum, and the thicker coat to protect and act as a shock absorber. I have never actully seen one of them, but was alway curious as to how they were installed and protect.
