Hi all, I have a 2 horse bumper pull, straight load tack over manger 1996 CM trailer. It has your standard divider in the middle that is at waist height. Most of the time, I only haul one horse and would love to have the option to use the extra stall for camping gear, hay, etc. Is it feasable to create a lower half to the divider so it reaches the floor? I don't want to risk a foot getting caught under anything, or put in anything she can kick through. I'm not sure even trying is worth the risk. Thoughts? Both on safety and on possible materials to use, etc.

I thought of that, but that's not going to stop her from getting a foot under or around it. Granted, the rubber probably wouldn't cut anything but it could lead to a freak out if her foot got stuck.
I'm thinking whatever it is would have to be securely attached all the way around, which might be more work than it would be worth and/or cause issues for when I want to take it out?

Well you could side a piece of plywood with stall mats and drill holes in the floor front and back of your makeshift stud wall and have metal pins attached down low on plywood edge that will pin the stud wall in place on the floor of your trailer...your horse will not be able to get under that setup...

What I was thinking was actually hinges along the floor so it could either stand up as a wall or lay down as a regular floor matt, so I wouldn't have to carry it in and out..Still can't figure out how to attach the top edge to the existing divider and at least the front/manger wall though...

Piano hinge on the bottom and some custom fabricated metal hooks on the top to clip over the center divider and then hook to the bottom of the center divider...most small machine shops could make something up for you in a couple of hours...

Well, its been a few weeks and I still haven't heard back from CM. :(I've come up with a plan to do this myself, but can't find any 1/2" thick mats that are larger than 4x6' locally (I need 3x7', two of them). Ugh... at least now I know why the trailer has three mats on the floor, going across the trailer.. they had to cut down a mat to fill in the space left from using two 2x6' mats!I guess I could take the mats and cut them in half down the center divider, then piece the three pieces together but I"m worried about weak seams and a foot going through. So guess I'll either need to do that route but back it with either plywood or a thin mat (can find those in larger sizes) OR keep looking till I find a supplier for 7 or 8 foot long matts *sigh*

Just my 2 cents. But I would think the weight of rubber matts would sooner or later pull through your fasteners that you are going to use to secure it to your divider. I could be wrong. I know those matts are very heavy. Sounds like a big headache to me. Try your dealer again.

I have been using a 3/4" thick stall mat for years, NO problems. And yes it is heavy.

Anyone feel like posting pics and instructions of their rubber-mat stud dividers? I've got a 2h slant with steel divider, and while I KNOW Bee would be happy to send me a stud divider, I can't afford the divider itself let alone freight from GA to ME.
I've been using it for storage without the stud divider in there, but I'd love not having to sweep as much shavings/hay out of there when using it for showering and for my potty. (Would a mat stud wall help with that at all?? Maybe only if I put a couple lengths of 'door sweeps' at the bottom like I do for my collapsable rear tack?)
