Yes, The hardest part was getting the unit on the trailer roof without dropping it. I had the dealer install the bracing to support the unit. (aluminum roof)

So you get the bracing done, cut the hole in the roof, don't drop it when your getting it on the roof, put it in the hole, seal the edges, hope it doesn't leak, and wire it up? Is it really that simple?-Betty

Our trailer had the bracing and wireing already installed so all I had to do was remove the roof vent. Got a friend to help placing the AC on the roof. lowered the trailer jack as far as it would go, put the AC in the truck bed, clamped a couple of 2x12 boards to the bed rails of the truck and backed the truck as close as possible to the trailer. Put the AC on the 2x12 boards,placed the cardboard that the AC was shipped in on the trailer roof and lifted the AC to the roof placing it on the cardboard. Took some time but really it was not that hard.
The rubber gasket that comes with the unit is the only seal that is needed. use care not to over tighten this but do retighten after your first trip.

Looks easy enough to install. Sounds like the hardest part it getting on the roof. This is for a weekend package, but I was thinking of doing the ducted version so I could have the thermostat. My experince has been that the small DR can become a real meat locker.

All A/C units have a thermostat control. The problem is most thermostats are mounted at the ceiling with the lower unit. (heated air rises) You might explore getting a remote thermostat mounted close to your living level.

I was told that to have a thermostat you have to have a ducted A/C unit. Perhaps not? I'll look around and see if I can find that option without the ducted A/C. Thanks!

Betty, You do not have to go ducted to have the remote thermostat (at least on a Dometic DuoTherm). You can have the remote thermostat which will also allow the blower fan to cycle with the compressor and still have a roof ADB (air distribution box). This ADB will not have the holes for the knobs. If we can help, drop our service guys a note at Roger@SelectTrailer.com Note added on edit- The thermostat runs on 12V. So you must have a 12V presence to run the A/C when rigged remote.
