A friend is looking at getting a Brenderup trailer. this would be her first trailer and she's saying one of the benefits is it can be pulled by a smaller tow vehicle (or even a car?? ) I'd be worried about how well it could stop being pulled w/ something like a smaller SUV but she said it has integrated brakes, so you don't need a brake box. is that true? also I'm wondering about ventilation since from the little I've seen they don't have much window space.
they do seem like cute trailers and they've been around a while so I'd imagine the design is pretty well thought out.
Any of you out there who have Brenderups how do you like them? pros? cons?
Brenderup is the Worlds Easiest Handling Full Sized One and TwoHorse Trailers. Here's just a few reasons why;
- The bigger the horse the higher its center of gravity; Only BRENDERUP REAL® TRAILERS accommodate this by lowering the trailer's center of gravity thereby improving the trailer's roadworthiness.
- The bigger the horses the more likely any loaded two-horse trailer will outweigh the towing vehicle. Therefore the trailer needs to be braked earlier and for longer than the lighter towing vehicle. Only BRENDERUP REAL® TRAILERS employs INERTIA® 4-wheel brakes designed to operate as the driver comes off the accelerator pedal and before getting to the brake pedal. Under ALL circumstances whenever the trailer tries to push on the tow vehicle the trailer brakes are being applied in direct proportion to the weight of the trailer at the time and the rate of deceleration. The INERTIA® brake system also has an independent parking brake, emergency breakaway and antilock characteristics.
- The majority of horsemen are in fact women. Only BRENDERUP REAL® TRAILERS builds all of its two-horse trailers for simple "one person" handling. Hitching/unhitching-loading/unloading-driving, you can really handle this trailer by yourself.
- Noise, vibration, rattling inside a trailer causes undue stress on the horsesthereby increasing their fatigue level. Only BRENDERUP REAL® TRAILERS eliminates All Noise, Vibration, Rattles, Heat Build-up and Sway.
- Build a trailer with a heavy tongue, inefficient brakes and no functional aerodynamics. A full-sized truck becomes essential towing equipment. Only BRENDERUP REAL® TRAILERS specifically designs all of its trailers to be safely towed and stopped by regular vehicles (within broadly defined parameters.)
- Available in the United States since 1982. A long history in the US and Europe of safely transporting horses of all types, sizes, and disciplines.
ALL 2008 BRENDERUP HORSE TRAILERS have 5 year limited chassis frame warranty, at least 7'4" interior height, maintenance-free wheel bearings/suspension, INERTIA™ anti-lock brakes, 5 ft. loading ramp with lift assistors, floor mat, interior lights, fiberglass roof (cool & quiet), front window, storm door, & 5-way vent window/s.

Here is an interesting, if not a bit neurotic read. I looked at them pretty hard when we hauled with the Trailblazer. I dont see any problems with Brenderup, if it fits your niche.

this has nothing to do w/ Brenderup trailers but I second what Rose said about breeches. during my endurance days I knew a lot of guys who wouldn't be caught dead in breeches wore panty hose under their jeans. hmm... wonder if some cowboys do that but just don't admit to it?

Well Im not a genuine cowboy, but I will admit a few times over the years after an extended off season I will throw on a pair of bicycle shorts under the jeans. Just until "things" get back to normal.
But pantyhose? Thats a little to Brokeback Mountain for me.

But then Wrangler made Q-babys.
For the first time in 50 years, Wrangler came up with a woman's jean DESIGNED for riding and not just looking cute.
And they ride real WELL!!!!

Actually breeches look quite dashing on men.
Back to the thread.....I would have a Brenderup but the Miata does not have the requisite wheelbase......so since I have a big diesel truck and a gooseneck steel trailer............
