Hi, I have a 2000 Dodge 2500 that I hook up a 2004 horse trailer. I keep blowing fuses. Not always the same problem. Turn signals, hazzard lights and last night, brake lights. I had the trailer plug replaced, and the wirinig checked in my truck. What is going on and what do I do to fix it. Help!
Plus, if anyone has the fuse panel diagram that would be great, I lost mine the last time I had to replace fuses.

If you are only blowing fuses when the trailer is hooked up and plugged in, you have a live short in the wiring on the trailer. Someone will need to check it that can trace down where the short is located and repair it. The new plug won't make any difference when the short is in the actual trailer wiring. A live short is caused when the insulation is stripped off the wire and it is touching metal or a screw or fastener has penetrated the jacket on the wire. This is the normal cause of erratic fuses blowing. Good Luck

Need to check around the plug on the truck. The turn, hazzard and brake lights from the trailer is only 2 wires. (left turn/brake and right turn/brake) so this would rule out the actual trailer being the problem. Check the wires going into the harness on the truck, some trucks have a wire for the brake and another for the turn/hazzard. I will check first thing Friday and see if I have an extra cover with the diagram.

Thanks for the reply's so far. In the daylight I will check the wiring harness in my truck first before I go ripping apart the trailer. Thanks for looking for the schematic too. I need to replace the right fuse before I can drive the truck back to the barn.

Check the trailer plug and make sure one of the screws inside hasn't come completely out and is bouncing around inside. I have had that happen to me once.
