Just a funny story to bring grins and giggles! I put out a new round bale of haygrazer for the animals today. The horse got a little possesive of the feed and tried to run to goat off. The goat, a very intelligent and funny character, simply climbed up on top of the bale, where he was nose-to nose with the horse, and butted the horse in the face every time the horse tried to get a bite! Talk about turning the tables! After about 15 minutes the goat relented, climbed down from the hay, and nonchalantly drifted over to the water trough. I think he made his point!

Oh that is hilarious! What kind of goat do you have? Please Post a picture of the smart little guy or gal!
I had pygmies, but sold my last group right before Thanksgiving. I miss them dearly, but had to down size my farm as we are looking for a new place to move too.

I have 3 sheep and my youngest little ewe will jump up on the round bale to eat too. She is too cute!! Horses don't fool with her, but she know to run to the horses to get away from the border collies!!

The goat is a huge Boer, with about four layers of fat. He has the most luxurious coat! Feels like hugging a big, squishy marshmallow. He is just too funny.

Hey, I'm a new goat owner. I have pygmys and they are a hoot! I never thought I could be this crazy over anything like I am! I would love to see a pictures also of your goat. My husband came in the other morning and said that his horse Harley, a 4 yr. old, who has been very interested in the goats addition, decided that he didn't want to share his hay with the littlest goat and picked him up by the nap of the neck! The goat didn't make a sound...just went somewhere else to eat. I'm sure that Harley wasn't intending to pick him up by the neck....he probably was trying to bite him! I wish I could have seen the incident. They get along together pretty good though.

Lea Anne,
Do your pygmies faint? A friend once had a whole herd of tiny black goats who would faint at any loud noise. It was disturbing to me the first few times I witnessed that, but it seemed to do the animals no harm. They were sure cute!

The fainting goats are a hoot! I thought it was a joke the first time I heard about them, but here is a link that tells all about them.

The goats at our barn will get into the manger of hay and lay down in it to eat... the horses have to eat around the goats. This only occurs when their invisable fence collars are not working. It is funny to see though. One female goat used to headbutt my old mare to try to win the grain. Every time the mare got a headbutt she squealed. She'd take a bite, get a headbutt and squeal - :))

Your story is too funny! I recently inherited some Nigerian Dwarf goats from a friend who moved overseas and they are constantly climbing on things. I frequently see Cleo standing on top of the manure in the wheel barrow but I've yet to see her on top of one of the round bales. They usually hang out in the geldings pasture and the boys don't seem to mind sharing their hay..
