Honda EU 3000 inverter. unit has an eco(economy) setting. With eco switch off, which causes inverter to produce max power, we have talked at a normal tone right beside our unit. Our dealer explained the inverter is different than a generator because it produces "even" electricity safe to run sensitive equipment like computers.....I had no clue what he really truly meant, but he sold me!!! I just plain ole like the quietness and the fact that when in Economy mode, the inverter produces the electricity that is needed. Not just a High and Low switch. Ours is like 6 years old and comes in handy when house power goes out .....Also throw it in the back of truck to use my power saw to repair those 16 foot boards when the horses break them!!! I have read a lot of other posts about other brands-- I can't comment cause I don't own them.......I own the Honda and I would re purchase another............I also like the dual starting system......battery(key) or pull start(cord)......... Best of Luck to ya Paul

I've got 1000+ hours on one of these, Yamaha EF3000iSEB. More than half of those hours it was running at 90% load in 95+ degree heat.... Done nothing but refuel and change crankcase oil (Mobil 1, 10W30), It just keeps on hummin!!

The Honda EU 3000 is a great generator, and probably the standard most are compared against.

I bought the Yamaha EF 2400is.   It is also a invertor based generator. ( You want an Invertor to run your Microwave, TV, CD etc)

The EF 2400 produces 2400 watts instead of the 3000watts that the larger Honda EU3000 produces. But it weighs 78lbs vs the Honda at 135lbs.  So it's still luggable by one person.  It will run my A/C or any other appliance in my trailer,  It just won't run multiple items at the same time. So I turn the A/C off when I run the microwave. For me this is no big deal, because I rarely ever use the A/C. The mountains of Utah are more prone to turning the heat on than turning on the A/C.

A friend of mine has the Honda, But he just leaves it in his truck bed all year long. I use my truck daily and didn't want to leave a generator in the truck bed.  If you are mounting it in the Horse trailer or some other permenant location, the weight is not a big deal. Go for the 3000 watt unit.

Hi is the Yamaha EF2400is a quit running,I like the weight difference it would make it easy to get it out of the first stall, or L.Q. of the trailer, I am thinking of mounting it under the gooseneck but I think I will have it do some modification to it for support

The Yamaha is just as quiet as the Honda....about 57-58 dB. I have one, I like it and it starts/runs my 13.5k BTU rooftop AC. $1200 to my door.

Yes, the Yamaha 2400is is a quiet generator, similar to the Honda. I run two of the Yamaha 2400's with the parallel cable. One won't run my AC (bigger unit). So, if AC is needed I take both with me. Otherwise, one unit powers the rest of the LQ.

Another generator that is worth consideration for an air conditioned LQ, is the Yamaha EF2800I. It only weighs 64 lbs, is very compact in size, and puts out 20 amps continuously. With a price of $1300 delivered and no sales tax, it is far less expensive than two Honda units at $1100 for the first one, $1200 for the "companion" and $250 for the power cord. That works out to be $2550 total.

It has enough power to run the larger air conditioners by itself. It can easily be moved by one person, and is small enough to store in a tack compartment. The small Hondas weigh 47 lbs each, 94 lbs for the pair. There is also a maintenance factor of maintaining and fueling two units or one. The Honda's are quieter singularly, but when run together, they would surpass the single Yamaha.

After looking at all the inverter types available, this is the one that best fits my needs. It will easily fit within my trailer for lockable storage, and can be easily repositioned into my garage for the off horse season winter storms.

I have some mechanical experience with Yamaha equipment, outboards, PWCs, snowmobiles and Ford cars. I have always been impressed with their engineering and quality products. No, I don't have any affiliation with Yamaha. I'm just trying to offer a quality alternative at a less expensive price.
