If you had the full VIN we could probably figure out the year.  The brand is much more tricky as the VIN will only tell you the chassis that it was built on.

Where do you findthe VIN on the trailer?
if i knew where to look i might be able to find it.

the 2 stickers that are on it that

might be able to tell me the brand are covered in a layer of paint. i could try stripping the paint if you think that would work?

It dosent have a "Title". we think it is a 1971....but are not really sure and here in michigan it dosent have to have a title. the old owner a friend of mine has had it for the last 15 years and the old owner said it didnt have a title when he got it. so.....is it somwere stamperd on the frame???? i can take a couple pictures of it if you would like...it is one of those typical dark brown trailers with the lighter tan roof. all steel. has some rust spots that need to be replacedbut the frame, tires, and insides are all really good for an old trailer....and for $400 you cant complane much.

Thre's no telling what make trailer you got. The serial number may be stamped on the tongue somewhere. Post some pictures of it on one of your posts... Maybe someone will reconize it and know right up front what it is!!

Look at some pictures of older Gore, Collin-Arnt, Shoop, Bonanza, Trailet, Miley, McQuerry... Look at the older brands.

If the trailer weighs over 2499 pounds, you need a title on it in Michigan and... you need brakes on it too. (My friend ended up with a unuseable trailer because of this.

Hard to imagine a 4H under that weight.

Sometimes there is a data plate inside a door. Steel wool might be enough to remove some of the paint so you can see anything on the ones that are painted over.

Older than 1989... okay. gotcha. I had a 1987 Circle J... it was 2450 pounds, I could either get a title or not. I chose to get one even though I was under the 2500.

Most manufacturers will stamp the VIN on the chassis somewhere.  Unfortunately there is no uniform placement.  Basically comes down to searching.  The tongue and on frame by the wheel well seem to be popular places though.
