Okay, something a little different here for yall. Let me know what you think. There is sound so turn on your speakers. This is where I went Saturday. Some of this runs along the PCT and it's spectacular. The fall color in the ground covers is coming out. I haven't been up on Hwy 88 in a few years, so this was well worth the tow for a day ride. I really felt as if I was right there along with the Emigrants coming over with Fremont and Kit Carson..............

How come Gemm is everything okay with your horse or just busy life like me here. But as you see I manage to do the shift chage and Cody and hubby hang out on the weekends and do the "man thing" while mom tackles the sierras......

I had to pause each picture to take it all in! The beauty almost made me cry. Imagine what it was like in 1844...probably not much different.. How grueling a journey it must have been. But how glorifying for you now. The times we have ridden in the Rockies in CO and WY there were moments when I just sat on my horse, almost unable to breathe, looking at the vastness of the earth and the beauty of it. Seeing it in person is indescribable, but you sure have come close with your photos! Thanks!

Hi Bill,
Yeah, I got it, haven't had a chance to email anyone back, between the ranch, irrigation, Cody in school and of course my rides on the weekends, I'm just now catching up. Oh, we've also been remodeling, got a new deck all in Trexx, that's been a challenge, well you could of sneezed on the old deck and it would of fallen over, LOL!!!!!!! Sounds like you've been busy too. Sorry about your dad, but sounds like all is ok though. I'm trying to get back up to Clarks Fork not this weekend cause I'm sure it'll be busy with the last holiday of summer, but the following weekend. Trying to get up to Leavitt Meadows too on the other side of the pass. Do you know anything about Leavitt? I'll have to send you pics of Cody's and mine's adventure into Leavitt lake, 4 wheeling all the way in, yeah baby!!!!!! LOL!!!!! You aint' getting a gooseneck or any trailer as a matter of fact back in on that road!

Me and my dad use to go into Leavitt Lake back in the late 50's and 60's fishing and hunting, belive it or not you could actually take high ground clearance horse trailers back thier all the way to the top of the mountain. They did mineing back in the 40's and 50's back then. We would park at the top of the mountain and hike into Kennedy Lake for the day of fishing. Not a soul to be seen back then.
The Marines during the winter use snow cats to pull soldiers with snow skies up to Leavitt Lake and they would skie all the way back to the Marine Base at night. It's all down hill.
I've done alot of packing and rideing out of Leavitt Meadow. Been to Poore Lake,Secret,Roosevelt,Fremont, and alot of the lakes futher in. Not a hard ride. I've been going into that country since the late fiftys. I use to snow shoe back thier also during heavy snow fall. Thats alot of fun but hard work. Thiers alot of other places to ride just off of HWY 108. If you need any detailed information of a certain area just let me know.

Oh no, Now I'm a mentor for someone else! LOL!!!! There's a gal that I chat with on antoher group, she from South. Cal. We are meeting up this Oct. to ride on the beach at Montana De Oro, just below San Luis Obispo. My life long dream is to ride on the beach, so it's gonna happen here shortly. She keeps telling me, "when I grow up I wanna be just like you!" She wants to see me "seal cut" as we have a ranch too, and Josie is always on them cows, moving them from pasture to pasture, we're fixing fence, and what else may come out way out there.....
