Currently at the 'cheap' station's diesel is $3.69. Haven't been watching the news lately... what in the world (no pun intended) happened? It seemed like prices went down a few weeks ago and then went back up at least 20 cents over night and they just keep going up. Wasn't sure if something specific happened (sorry, hope this doesn't open a can on political worms).

Has anyone else heard of the major oil companies buying up the corn and dumping it in fields to rot, just so they can keep the bio fuel production to a minimum. Was a rumor I heard just trying to find out if there is any fact to it.
I paid 3.49 two days ago for diesel. Saw a store here in nc today that had it at 3.69

Do you think that if diesel hits $5.00 truckers will go on strike or something? How far do you think people will let it go? If diesel goes that high, it will have serious ripples throughout our whole economy. Do you know how much more expensive EVERYTHING will be? From tomatoes to t-shirts it all get shipped by truck. When do you think people will quit grumbling and paying, and start shouting and not buying?

$3.69 to 3.79 in State College, PA yesterday. It cost me $47.00 to fill my little diesel Volkswagen Jetta. I haven't filled my truck in at least a month. It is going to be painfull!!! Unleaded 87 gasoline was $3.19.

It don't help matters that crude oil spiked at $102.00+ a barrel! It drop off a little but you may as well expect it to slip on up past the $102.00 next week.

$3.89 per gallon last night for Diesel in Northeastern PA. Gas is $3.15 a gallon, but I expect that to go up too. I will soon need to order heating oil for my home and am not looking forward to that bill! Wish there was something we could all do.

No, because the Truckers have an escalator clause in most of their contracts...

In 1931, when some roads were little more than cow paths and the interstates weren't even considered, Cummings, the builder of a diesel engine of his own name, drove coast to coast.
He did so to prove the reliability of his product, and to promote trucking as an alternative to the rail lines.
His cost of diesel fuel to make the whole trip? $11.30

This is why I HAD to purchase an older truck to pull my trailer. I drive around 400 miles a week and can barely afford to put gas in my VW Beetle(that cost $39.50 to fill up last night and will last me around a week), which averages in the lower 30s for gas mileage and that includes the hours of sitting in traffic idling. No way could I afford to fuel a truck. I just recently purchased a used truck and trailer. Some people were scoffing at the fact that I had to buy a '95 to afford it, but that's all I could manage for a truck that is going to spend most of its time in my driveway(taking up MOST of the driveway, by the way), because I can't afford to drive it. Anyway, I think I got a pretty nice one. It is 13 years old, but only had 107,000 miles on it and my husband just drove it nearly 1000(more miles than had been put on it in the entire 2 1/2 months I have had it, including the 300 mile trip to bring it home from NJ) miles pulling a car on a trailer in one day and it did fine.
Just thinbk what THIS is going to do to the price of hay and feed!
