can regular house switches be used in a trailer I thought it had to be out door switches I do not know just a question for my education
Sure.... A switch is a switch, just a rocker to open and close a contact for power to a load, no matter if that power is 12v, 120v (but you have a current rating to go by). Think of the trailer as nothing but a home garage or shed on wheels, but using 12v instead of 120. But, don't try to use a "trailer" switch in a house, the contacts would not be able to handle the 120v current/amps.

Been a awhile on an update... Just a small update, with a big price tag.
Installed new wheels and tires so to get rid of the 16.5 tires and wheels... BFGoodrich Commercial T/A LT 235/85R16 E load rating on Pacer 16x7 aluminum mod wheels (spare is the same tire and wheel combination).

Yes they look better then the wheels they replaced for sure and having E rated tires sure is going to give piece of mind over the D rated tires the last owner was running on this monster.
I just ordered 20 truck-lite led marker lights (I believe 15 LEDs in each fixture), 11 amber and 9 red... Going to add 2 amber and 2 red on the lower section of the trailer so to have some lighting down in the center and rear corners, I'll add a couple of photos of them when I'm done.

LED markers are installed, 2 pics... Best $140 I ever spent when it comes to lighting, I mean how can you beat the brightness when the all the marker/parking lights take less then 5 amps total over the 18+ amps draw from the old incandescent bulbs.

Another update... I added Radio/TV antennas, LED marker lights, completed insulation of the trailer walls/ceiling, also replaced the goose overhang floor with 3/4 ply-wood (painted, grey).
I did get a new brake controller for the truck, a Tekonsha P3. What a world of diffidence from the 10 year thing it replaced. With that said, I hooked the trailer up for a test drive to set up the new controller (I can't tell you how nice it is to have a 1/4 mile paved driveway) and that made me remember I never did show a photo of the trailer hooked up to the truck, so here that is... You can see the new Winegard RS-2000 Roadstar TV, AM/FM antennas on top (radio antenna is spring loaded, placed on the driver side roof, makes the trailer 11'6") and the new marker lights. I added bottom/top center LEDs that the trailer never had on the lower and upper center sections (far back and front are reflectors, they were the old round type riveted on, I replaced them with long ovals that are covering old rivet holes)...
(I'll show the rest of the pics here in my post so you don't have to do anymore clicking to see them)
EDIT... opps, I see I already talked about the LEDs a few post back.

Thanks... I have been thinking on looking for a late 70s "somthing" to restore to haul the trailer for local horse shows. If for anything for the fun factor for myself that the walk by attention the set up would get, while the wife is having her fun with the horses... Not that the rig would be show quality, just for fun.

Looks VERY nice!!
Have you put it on a scale? It looks very solid (heavy)
Not yet, wouldn't do any good at the moment, no floor 38 . Not that it says anything, but I was a bit surprised that it only dropped the truck down about 1 1/2" in the rear. I will for sure put it on the scales when done, I am hoping for a max empty (no live stock, but all dividers/equipment installed) weight of around the mid 8,000lb range.

In car lingo, we would call your trailer a "resto" rod; a term given to an older car not originally restored, but rebuilt and updated with modern appointments, to make it viable for today's usage. You have maintained the classic looks and added modern capabilities, and now have the best of both worlds.
Many people have asked if they should keep their older trailers or buy a new one. Your efforts are showing exactly why I've often said, if possible, keep the one you have.
Your trailer and handiwork will far outshine all the modern bling and mega yachts, commonly found at your horse events. The big buck spenders will be very jealous of your handiwork. I'm sure that many people will be asking where they can get a trailer like yours.

Sorry I didn't make it to the computer yesterday, but here are a few photos of that ramp section...
Before...
And after... Just roughed in at the moment, have to cut the door latch openings, weld everything together, then paint (I used galvanized on all cross members that needed to be replaced, 6 total).

I started the interior.... I should have some photos of that part of the project in a few days. To save some (a lot) of money on this old girl I just went with plywood instead of aluminum or reinforced plastic panels, I know down the road I'll have to do the ceiling again because of condensation on the ceiling cross members. I learned a hard lesson on how much an aluminum trailer stretches and shrinks because of hot days and colder nights this time of year in Florida... After doing the length of the trailer ceiling, I had to go back and open all the seems by just over a 1/4". I swear this trailer is 34' by night and 34' 6' by day... Anyhow, now figure out what to use to cover the seems.

I was able to get more done today then I thought. Here is a photo of the back, still lots of work to do, add trim to the seems, screw in the window trim/add window protection (so the horse don't knock out a window) The hanging wires are for a "night light" as my wife puts it (over the other switches to the left in photo), far back left and right fans and in the center back power for a camera system, etc, etc and so on.
