HTB, when I first read the tread, I had to go back and look at who the poster was. You are one of the last people I would think of having a problem telling someone what's on your mind! Ha ha.....no offense meant.....I 've read your posts and good advice over time......direct, to the point, no punches pulled! Like the others have said, you said no- it's your call- no big deal. In my experience, the people who think it is a big deal are the same ones that would bring it back damaged somehow, but not think it's a big deal for them to do anything necessary to put it back to original (or better) condition.

I made the mistake of both loaning out my horse and my LQ to people I liked and trusted, and my horse came back lame and my LQ came back with bent axles. So you can guess what my answer is now, not just NO but HELL NO! Good Luck to your wife I hope she makes it.

Well, I had to get rude with him now.
He calls and said "since Toni is going to have the points to make the World and you will only be hauling 1 horse I will just ride with ya'll so I want have to use my truck and trailer and still save on a room". Did not ask, just told me!
So my reply to him was Oh HELL NO! I'm not rooming with anybody else for 5 days in a 10' LQ! I sent him a text of a few dealers in the area that offers LQ trailer and told him to give the a call.

He's obviously NOT a friend; he's a user. As you realize, you have no obligation to him for his crass behaviour. As was previously stated, if a person is in need, most people will try to help out. But when a person has his own rig, and invites himself along so he can save a dollar, he's ignorant and crude. This, on top of his negative comments about your successful wife, would place him on the top of my DO NOT CALL LIST.
You should send him an Email link of the responses in this posting, so he will be appraised of what the general population thinks of his behaviour.

Kudo's to your wife!!!! Hope she kicks butt!!!!
I myself will not lend my LQ out to anyone. Well except maybe to the guy I bought it from but only because he's my cousin and I know he is as particular about it as I am....I don't lend my truck out either....And if I ever did they would have to sign thier life away...

before I had the money for the LQ I slept on a cot and used a portapotty.
You have to live within your means. Sounds like they should be staying home and saving money.

You know we just got our first LQ, although we have had some pretty nice finished dressing room trailers. The real LQ is alot different. I wouldnt loan it not only due to its cost, but just the fact that its kinda private. You know, my bed and bed linens, my personal stuff in the medicine cabinet, my stuff in the fridge etc etc. I have a funny anal thing about my personal possessions, and I just wouldnt want someone pilfering through them or sleeping in my bed. I also have issues with people thinking that now they can just move in and bunk with me. I dont want to seem snobby, but I go to relax and unwind and have a good time. Now that we have scrimped and worked and finally gotten the trailer of our dreams, I dont want to get up and my couch is pulled out and someone on it or have to wait for someone to get out of my bathroom so I can get dressed. We got it to enjoy and if my husband is not with me, then I enjoy the alone time. I think working my way out of this predicament is harder than telling someone they cant borrow it. I will likely end up making someone mad. any advice ?

Is this guy a bit of a dim bulb, or does he just not care? i agree with everyone else.. This "friend" is an ignorant neanderthal (The Geico guys will be afer me now!!) who initially disrespected your wife and and devalued her accomplishments while attemping to borrow a thing of value, then when proven wrong, attempts to invite himself along anyway.. He is apparently oblivious of his own crass stupidity and is NO friend. Tell this loser "NO" and be done with him...

I loaned my old steel, Circle M stock trailer to a "FRIEND" some years back. Trailer had always been under a three sided shelter, may have been rained on four times in 10 years, they borrowed it the day before a freezing rain storm..... Brought it back about 30 minutes after the state salt spreader truck made a pass by our house. I was in the hospital at the time..... Had I been home, they too would have been in the hospital. By the time I was able to attempt to clean it up, several weeks had passed, you could just about hear the paint popping off.... They never said thank you, let me clean it up for you, kiss my a$$ or anything.... Never had much use for that "FRIEND" since that day....Sounds like you may need to slam their trigger finger in the truck door, They'll have no need to go after that!!!!

I hope your wife kicks butt at the next shoot. Tell her good luck and she is going to make it to world. We want pics.!!!! My hubby is trying his hand at mounted shooting. He is just going up to friends place and they practice in his areana. It is fun sport but kind of expensive.

Thank you, I will tell her.... She is bumded out right now, the rain has canceled the Hubbard shoot this weekend, so she is going to Vernon next weekend. It is an indoor arena and 4X's the points and actually has an added money plus I had her enter a $25. side jack pot for her class that is a 100% pay back.
I thought is way a little high to start with, but after we bought our guns and some ol' style clothing everything else is about the same as the roping and barrel racing stuff, but we can both do this! I will get my picture from my other computer and download them this weekend.

If this guy has his own trailer, then, why in the H is he trying to bum off of you? I don't get it unless he is just trying to save $,or,maybe he doesn't have a LQ?

Yea,Rentento,a man after my own heart, couldn't have said it better! And Gard is also a master at telling somebody off and doing it in style, with class.
As we say around here,"That fella just ain't got no kind of 'raisin.'" (i.e. his mama didn't teach him any manners or else,he forgot them.)/QUOTE]

Well doesn't it have a dressing room? What's wrong with him putting a cot in there and running a little plug in heater from a campsite,or something? Man.That guy just doesn't get it. Should now be titled "how long does it take to figure out you aren't WELCOME"?

I watched mounted shooting once at MSU. It was really neat and might I say requires alot of talent. They had earplugs for their horses. Do the horses still wear earplugs outside?

Or turn the tables on him-
You know, the wife may not do well and it's going to cost us a lot of money to go so maybe we should just take your trailer because it won't cost you as much gas money as it would have me.
And nowhere, in anything you've written have I heard about sharing the costs. What a freeloader.
