Today the Supreme Court "BARELY" upheld the second amendment to the constitution, in a 5 to 4 decision they said that the residents of the United States do indeed have a constitutional right to own and posess a firearm for the purpose of self defense.
Sad part about this decision is that 4 of our Supreme Court Justices do not read the second ammendment the same way I and the 5 other justices do. We have 4 supreme court justices that are trying to legislate from the bench. They think they are smarter than our founding fathers, our Congress, and our legislative process.
I know there are a ton of "Bush haters" out there, but imagine had Gore or Kerry gotten elected and had the opprotunity to apoint the last two justices. You may have lost your right to own a gun today. That's something to think about when you vote in November.

I'm with you! And they have the gaul to say that raping a child does not deserve "cruel and unusual punishment". Oh yes it does! Bring on the death penalty! Maybe then monsters would think twice before they harmed an innocent child.

You know, wasn't this forum originally supposed to be about trucks, trailers, and horses? Seems like all we get lately is people groaning about politics. Let's get back to the purpose of this website. Those that want to give their opinions on the gun laws can go to a website designed for that purpose.

My truck and my trailer have a gun in them, so I see the relevance, sorry that you don't.

I use my truck, and trailer, riding and packing mules while scouting and hunting, and that involves firearms, and I am also glad for the vote today, and it's implications that the individual has the second amendment right as envisioned by the founding fathers. And, because I value the use of the truck, trailer, and mules in firearms activities, I will vote with that in mind.

Notfromtexas- I think your moniker says it all. I've got an idea; why don't you take your liberal a$$ back to wherever not in Texas you came from, because we love our guns down here and child rapists don't make it to court. Peace.

I happen to enjoy conversations that veer away from the trailer issue. if you don't want to participate- don't.
Lets not forget that we have 5 justices that chose to give constiutional rights and protections to NON AMERICANS that are trying to kill our soliders.
Lets not forget we have 5 justices ( all liberal) that have proclaimed it constiutional to kill an unborn child but its cruel and unusual punishment to kill those who rape a child.....hmmmmmmmmm
The SCOTUS is overreaching its purpose which is to determine the constiutionality of laws passed by congress. This election will have long term consequences for this country. Choose wisely........

Please show your Texas good nature larger than life graciousness and apologize to "notfromtexas" for calling them a name (liberal).
"notfromtexas"? I can't censor people's comments just because I don't agree with them. This is a horse trailer site, but we have a community of horsemen that enjoy similar things - including their interests. They talk, and while they are here, they provide valuable information to many. By the way, I share a love for guns, conservative values, and enjoy both here on this board. Please excuse us if we digress occasionally to take a stand on issues important to us.

Nah, the right to keep and bear arms is what's called an inalienable right. No constitution or judge can take those kind of rights away. Of course, if they try, just give em the bullets first! :D

we own 4 guns 3 pistols. one shot gun.. they all have there purpose..what i love is the neighbor guy that gets out every other wkend shooting all his array of guns.. this is a dead end street with 7 houses 5 min to town but just so happens to be in county...i am all for 3 or 4 times a yr to get out in the backyard and shoot a little practice but we do get tired of hearing it so often...i sure wish he would have more respect for everyone else..oh well there is always got to be someone in the bunch to ruin it for everyone..that would be the only reason i would like to see guns banned..happy trails....

Notfromtexas- I truly appologize for calling you a horrible name, "liberal". No one should be insulted in such a manner. That word should be reserved for only the most despicable of all folks and it was inappropriate for me to use it. I am glad you are not from Texas, because to be called a liberal in Texas are fighting words and I certainly wouldn't want to start a fight. I am sorry, I just got carried away in the heat of the moment. Please forgive me. Siempre su amigo por vida!

I am so glad we are not into guns like you all seem to be in the USA! maybe you should put them away and you would be more peaceful.
Putting them away isn't going to stop the criminal from breaking into your home and assaulting your family. Criminals will always have access to guns and by the time you call 911 (if you even have the chance), it may be too late.
What are you going to do if a criminal breaks into your home and you don't have a weapon? Even if the police we're notified, it's too late. The criminal is already in your home.......and he/she knows you DON'T have a gun.

Tx Vaquero...
Firstly,
The name "notfromtexas", since you don't know it, is from a Lyle Lovett song. The lyrics go:
"That's right, you're not from Texas, but Texas wants you anyway"
That's the origin of the name.
Secondly,
I keep several guns in my home and am in the process of getting a concealed carry permit. So, I am not anti gun. I just feel that we are deviating from the purpose of the website. But, so nice to know, that I can count on you and the rest to be as rude as possible, whenever possible.

You know, you don't have to click on the link for this thread if it isn't something that interests you.
Now back to trailer talk...does anyone have any recommendations for installing a holster on the end of the cabinet by the door in my living quarters? You know, things like height from the floor, distance from the door, removable holster or fixed holster...

One interesting side note, is in every state in our country where concealed weapons permits have been initiated, violent crime rates have gone down, not increased. So my favorite pommel bag has an interior pistol holster for the concealed weapon I have a permit to carry. I carry a gun because a cop is too heavy and bulky to conceal.

I feel better knowing that I have a shotgun in my closet. I'd like to have a pistol. I don't want that option taken away from me. I've firmly decided that if they make it illegal to have a firearm, I'll just be illegal. It's not guns among the average population that need controlled, it's the guns among the criminal population that need controlled.
