I can't find a sign of the moon calendar online. I don't want to buy one. I want to geld in Jauary or Feburary when the moon is in the feet. Does anyone have a calendar?

>> I must be super in the dark...but what has that got to do with when you geld???Some believe that if you geld during certain moon phase...I think it's after the full moon. The colt will have less bleeding, and heal quicker. Same for weaning. The Farmers Almanac lists monthly dates for doing certain chores. It's all based on Moon phases and tides....when the moon is located in certain place in the Zodiac. The best day to geld in January are 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12.

Does anyone know where I can see a calendar with the daily signs on it like in the feet, head etc? Just the pictures of the moon phases doesn't help me. The only time I look for one is when I geld. I have always gelded with the signs and never had trouble.

We cut by the signs..... We have a guy to do this for us.. I will call him tomorrow if no one posts and give you the dates. I have had a vet geld when the signs were high and close to the heart and he bled for days. Not sure where the superstition lies, but my grandfather has passed it down in the generations with his beliefs of how it works and I go with that experience of countless decades.

I don't know about moon signs etc but having been in the veterinary field for over 25 yrs. know for a fact that we have more emergencies and problems during a full moon. Good luck with gelding your colt.

It the farmers almanac type of stuff. Better to plant at this phase of the moon, harvest at this phase, geld on theses days, breed on these days spray for weeds on a full moon and such. I've never paid any attention to it but my great grandfather swore by it. He never bred an animal or planted a tomato on the wrong days.

thanks for all the help. I have an appointment 1/10 which is a good day for gelding. My horse needs all the help he can get. He has not dropped yet, is almost 2 and is not worth an expensive gedling job. Keep your fingers crossed for me. Again thanks for all the help.

Believe it or not, Sable, our horses with trainers in Kentucky have been gelded by some of the best vets in the nation and they also believe in the phase of the moon thing. If you ask your vet, he/she may already know. The whole moon phase thing is not a bunch of bull -- ask any law enforcement officer!

I am another believer. We always gelded by the moon and the one time we didn't the horse bled a lot. May not have been anything to do with the moon, but sure makes you wonder. A man down the road did everything by the moon, always had a good garden. There has to be something to it, people been following it to many years with good results.

Knew a vet once that cooked up some Bull testies and took them to a party that was serving exotic meats.Said he held off telling anyone for a few weeks about his Rocky mountain oysters.
