My sister just got done installing hers... she used the soffitt stuff... it has grooves and I don' tknow if I like that. She was told it was easy to install (she thought differently) and that it expands and contracts well with the weather. I was just wanting to know what everyone else has used. as always THANKS much for sharing your expertise!

Hi danielle...I'm from Iowa too. I used thin, white fiberglass panels that bend easily. One side is smooth, and the other side has a pebbled texture...got it at Menards for $29 a panel, and needed about 3 panels total. I used tin snips to cut it with, and it cut very well that way. I suppose you could also use plastic panels, but I liked the fiberglass ones better...they seemed like they would hold up against the heat/cold better.

We are getting ready to do our also!!! I bought the white fiberglass panels for the ceiling, as it is a logan and has quite a curve in the nose, and the walls are gonna be white beadboard, then I'll trim it out with plain pine trim. The original guy had the tack/sleeping area all in fiberglass. He glued it all, which was a bear to tear out. We are using screw so if we have to tear into it for leaks again, it will be easier to take apart and put back up. Hey Flooper, do you have pics you could post so I could see your ceiling? Always gettin ideas.\here on my end.

I used Luan for the ceiling, covered that with soft wall material. Inlaid a little bit of copper in the middle, put some cast iron stars on the copper, trimed it all out in solid oak. It also has rope lights beside the copper panels that will end up behind smoked plexiglass when it is finished. See the pictures attached for my little DIY LQ.

um... my exact words when I opened the pics were HOLY CRA.... will you come do mine??? now detailed instructions EXACTLY what I need -I don't need the frills of the copper and the stars... that is so pretty. but if I showed those to my husband he would KILL me... when I said I wanted a sink I thought he was going to come unglued. I LOVE THE COLOR and everything of yours!!!!!! Did I ask for DETAILED instructions??? Keep in mind I'm doing most of this myself. Hubby doesn't even WANT to help.

Cowpony and danielle...no I don't have any pictures. I guess I could take some, but after looking at HWBar's job...I really don't want to post mine!!! Let's just say mine doesn't look quite as nice!!
danielle...I live over near Cedar Rapids...we ride a lot at Shimek State Forest about 90 miles south of here...down by Farmington. Ever ride there? We also go to Redrock and ride there with the kids sometimes.

I have never ridden either place. I know my sister's have ridden at Redrock, but I have not. We use to go trail riding all the time when I was growing up... now it seems like I barely have time to go to barrel races let alone go ride for the pleasure of it. Last year we did a little more trailer riding, we joined up with the trailriding bunch I rode with as a kid... kind of fun! They still give me a hard time, tell me no whining or crying before we leave and if I have to pee go now! ha ha. I do have some friends down in Mt Sterling, that talk about us coming over to ride somewhere with them. I am wondering if it isn't Shimek State Forest - do you think???

I used the same paneling that I used on my walls. It was a tongue and groove knotty pine paneling that came 6 to a package (8'x 4" planks if I remember right). Very easy to work with. Nice looking job HWBar.

That is what I got for the paneling on my walls. I bought it two weeks ago because I saw a style go on clearance. We got it for 6.86 / pkg for 17 pkgs and then 4 pkgs we got for $3 / pkg because the ends were chewed up. But I bought all they had - about 5 or 6 more than we needed, just in case. My sister did her walls first - so that is what I was intending to do (like I said, I know nothing) but she called me while they were working on their ceiling and said do the ceiling first!!!! I'm liking this learn from others mistakes!
Yeah...I'm really liking the look of the Soft Wall stuff HWBar used. THAT IS AWESOME!

yes, definately the ceiling first! The you can run your paneling up to it, that is how we are going about it. I'm glad I took pics of the inside of mine before I tore everything out, now I can see how we are gonna do the curved nose in front.

here's a picture of how my ceiling was done before I had to tear into it. We are gonna use hopefully the same idea. The nose is in two seperate parts to get that bend......

we did a suspended ceiling and it looks great and you still have access to above it for wiring ect... The tiles are 2 by 2 square tiles that easy to wipe off, clean with water and they have about a 1/2 inch of yellow insulation on the back side.

That's pretty nice inside for a steel trailer! Thanks for the pics Deb!!! We got my ceiling in Sat. what a bear. I wanted to just do slant at the round roof corners, but the guy that helped me was able to bend the fiberglass paneling fairly easy to get the cuve. The ceiling nose was a geometry nightmare! But we got one side, and left the other since are brains were fried by the end of the day but I know the measurements and how to cut for that piece now. Then we just screwed it to the beams. It actually doesn't look too bad. I was on my back in the nose part stretching out the wrinkles with my feet! It was pretty comical to watch if we would of videoed it! Will have to get pics maybe today.

thanks, I think my hubby did a great job in mine for I think it looks just as nice or nicer then some of the custom jobs. I told him he should maybe do conversions over the winter.
We didnt know how to do the cieling with the curves and the nose angle. Hubby came up with this idea and it worked real easily.

I see you just brought the nose to a point inside and stuck a cabinet infront. I've got a window in my curve in the nose, so I may have to stick a flat piece in the middle, then come to the middle at the angles, kinda a rough curve with angles.

I sure appreciate y'all sharing your ideas and pix. I am in the process of doing same to my trailer. Unlike yours mine has more curve in the ceiling and has a streamlined nose. (04 Chaparral) I got the insulation and carpet in, a nice bootbox storage cabinet built, but have yet to start on the ceiling panels. Thats the next project.

get pics of yours so we can see your progress too! I'd really like to see what you are gonna do with the streamline nose. Are you using it as storage or paneling it too? Keep us updated. I will keep adding pics to mine as I go. Mine is just for me to stay warm in the mountainsand make the trip a little more comfortable (as well as clean up the mess from the leaking vent), I ride anywhere from 5500ft elev. to 9700 ft. so nights are unpredictable.

Well, here's what I got done on my paneling yesterday. I still have that pickin' piece of pie corner to contend with, giving myself a break and gonna make a template out of cardboard for that one, it's fine sitting there empty. Also got the fan vent put back in, it's looking more back to normal now, also put the carpeting back down on the floor. When I put the paneling back up it will pull the carpet nice and tight.....
