I was at the show in Mass. and saw 4-star trailers there....where are the dealers from this end of the world??? They are a really nice, clean trailer....especially with that Outlaw interior. Anyone have any opinions on them as a whole??

The dealer I dealt with is from Kittaning PA,east of Pittsburgh. Jeff Altmeyer is his name. He deals with Trail Boss interiors but you can have it made and sent to any conversion co. Jeff has been a good dealer to me for 2 trailers.

Riverview Trailer Sales from Merrimac, MA sell 4 Star trailers. I would have to agree with you though, there arn't enough dealers, for a nice trailer like their's.

I just orderded a trailer from altmeyers (should have it in a week or two). Very good dealer to deal with. they deal mainly in showtime conversions but you can get any interior company you want, many friends have delt there also with no complaints

I recommend Riverview in Merrimac.
She (Jane) works the shows wih Altmeyer. I'm assuming the O/P just got back from EA at Springfield.
I don't know what the regional/territory/turf dealership issues are, maybe there aren't any, they do work well together.

If you want an opinion on 4-Star, I highly recommend them. There are 5 different people at my boarding stable that have them (varying from 8 years old to brand new) and I have not heard of any problems that weren't backed 100% by the company. Any of the problems people had were very minor and the company took care of every single on - no charge. I can tell you that the company custom makes the trailers and they do spend a lot of time on each trailer (mine took almost 3 months to order). Perhaps that's why they are limiting the number of dealers - to protect the quality of the brand.
Anyway, I looked at several brands before I decided to purchase a 4 Star. They were among the top in quality and were the best value of the brands with that level of quality. I did not get one with LQ so I cannot comment on Outlaw.

Great decision on the 4-Star, we recently purchased a 4 horse GN (no LQ) and love it. Started to research 4-Star when a Sundowner/Sooner dealer said about a Sooner its not a 4-Star but its a very good trailer. We live in Omaha, NE and bought from Liberty Trailer Sales in Chicago. Window latches on bottom of window, larger stalls, aluminum welds, ride, sturdiness, hauls great, great looks great trailer.

you might try orchard trailers in whately, ma. they dont sell 4stars but might give you some insight on other options
I looked quite hard at an Elite there a couple or three years ago.
They wanted FAR too much money for it and tried to play the silly little game of trotting back and forth to the sales manager with messgaes, coming down about $500 (with some rounding), then another couple of hundred - I walked out, I just WILL NOT be dealt with that way.
Anyway, Jane at Riverview would be worth the difference in distance if I lived west of Whately (-:

If it happened that way once a couple or three years ago it is probably still that way! Glad we have all been warned to stay away.
I'm NOT saying to stay away from them. Their style of selling might well appeal to others, in fact their success seems to indicate that it does.
MY style of buying is much more compatible with Jane's style of selling. I can't correlate size of dealership (dealership "success") with selling stlye, but I have my preference and I'm much more likely to go Riverview than Orchard.
That said, I've dropped by Orchard's booth at every show in this area since I looked at the Elite and things do seem to have stayed the same.

reg, didnt i read somewhere that you are a dealer? that might explain your attitude...just offering suggestions, not stepping on your toes. ive found orchard to be very professional and courteous, maybe youre right...their selling style probably doesnt fit with your buying style

Hi bd1,
I don't know what you read or where, but (among other things) I am NOT a dealer. I don't buy/sell/trade THAT often and although that might be a fun way to spla$h money around I couldn't afford to buy/sell/trade the 5 units a year that defines you as a dealer in Mass. B'sides I've never made money on anything that I've bought and subsequently sold, I guess I just don't have the yard sale face.
WRT buying/selling style: I like to hear the list or sticker and go straight to the out the door price. They know that price before they approach you on the lot, whether it is 5, 10, 15 or xy% off doesn't particularly matter, I just want to get to it in about 3 sentences, not little chunks of money and errands back and forth to a sales manager. I know it is a game, I know what the psychology of it is, I will not play it.
So, have YOU dealt with Jane at Riverview ?
Do you prefer Orchard to Riverview ?

Elite does make a very nice trailer, every bit as good as 4-star but like you said, Reg, the dealer makes a BIG difference!
Trailer for trailer, dealer for dealer, whatever all else in the mix...
the 4-Star cost me about 63% of what was being asked on the Elite.
This is all before the details that made the 4-Star a better trailer for me/my intended uses, etc. How much of the ~37% difference was in dealership differences vs trailer brands and "location" (maybe 70 or 80 miles apart), I don't know. If the price situation had been reversed I MIGHT have bought the Elite, after all I am VERY price sensitive when dealing in 5 digits (-:
Value == Function/Price (high numbers being better)

I was just in Oklahoma a couple weeks ago and, while there, priced out a 4-star and an Elite with a slider. The Elite dealer beat the 4-star dealer. I think the dealer and the location has much to do with the real deal.

Interesting, this confirms to me that the Elite I looked at was WAY overpriced. I'm really NOT good at driving super bargains, so I know I didn't get the 4-Star for anything with a melody and C F and G chords.
Doncha just LUV pricing new trailers, ESPECIALLY at shows ?
My latest excercise was a 6 horse head to head EBY at the Equine Affair in Springfield, Mass. Unfortunately my casual enquiry to the EBY guy was "harvested" by a local dealer )-:
Anyway, $48,900 was the answer.
I might, but not from THAT dealer...
I just HATE being cold called right after a show, though maybe it isn't a TOTALLY COLD call.

Yes, the gamesthey play are very interesting. There is a Hart dealer near me, and I like Hart, but I get the worst quotes from that guy and he KNOWS me!

"I just HATE being cold called right after a show, though maybe it isn't a TOTALLY COLD call."
Some hate being called after they have given their name & number at the show. Others feel that the salesman is unresponsive if they don't call. And some are just grumpy whether you do or don't call.
Salespeople are paid by the manufacturer or dealer to sell. If you give them your name and number there is a real good chance they will call (if they are doing their job.)
Best way to avoid it: Don't give them your name and number.

I understand that.
I also understand the value of contact info on potential new customers in ANY business.
What ticked me off was the harvesting of my contact information from the EBY rep.
I also understand how factory and dealer reps "work together" - it still ticked me off.
No matter, there is a better alternative dealer less than 100 additional miles away.

you might want to consider that the dealer that a least called you back in my book, was doing his or hers job . i can also say they will sure get back to you if you might have a problem and need to get up and going. rasther than the relax effort, first impressions?????????
