Looking for comments from those who tow.
I have a 5.4L V8 gas, F250 Truck, gooseneck and need to know if it is capable of towing a 3h gooseneck - Exiss Trailer with only two horses. Approximate weight of horses is around 2,000lbs and empty weight of trailer is 6500lbs. Hugh debate going on in household on if it can or if it cannot.

Here's my 2 cents....
My 2012 6.2L F250 GVWR is 10,000 lbs, Curb Weight (empty truck) is 6600 lbs and tow capacity is 12,200 lbs. My available payload is 3400 lbs. With hay, cooler, gear and people in the truck, I estimate I have around 2200 lbs of available payload which means at max, I'd be able to pull an 8800 lb trailer (25% pin weight). My 2H LQ weekender weights around 5000 lbs. With 2 horses, tack, water, etc. I'm pushing 7500lbs. I feel okay with my setup but I think you're going to need to provide more truck specifics and measurements for anybody to comment.

You can look up the capacity of your truck on line. I would need the year to look it up. It is not just the engine or fuel used. You are diving a Ford if it is an F250. I had an F250, 2007 Diesel. I was able to pull my 3 horse LQ trailer that weighed 10k empty. It could pull 15,900 in a goose neck configuration. We used it to go to Texas and back from St Louis. We have now gone to an F350 dually and it is much more relaxing.

I think you would be pushing it. I have an F-250/5.7 gas. My trailer loaded with horses is around 8,000 lbs. It doe's great on the flat but when you get into hills or long climbs your speed will drop a lot and your engine will be working too hard. You're looking at 8,500 lbs plus gear, hay, etc..

I had a F250 with the 5.4.At the time I was pulling a 3h slant load with diy LQ. It did fine on the flat. But when I took it to the mountains. It did ok but on a hard pull it sounded like the thing was going to blow!!! to much strain on the transmission. So I traded it in on a 250 diesel. Now I don't even know the trailer is back there...

As the two previous post reveal, it will pull but I don't think u will like it. I also had a 04 F250 with 5.4 gas, 3 H GN DIY LQ. Not happy on hills. Traded for an 05 F250 diesel, have to look in mirror to be sure it's back there!

I pull my 3H Elite with a weekender package with a 5.4L F250. My truck pulls its great and I actually do not notice any difference from the 2H bumper pull I used to tow. I usually have 2 horses on board but will occasionally have 3 and it handles it all just fine.
